MythsCetus was believed to be the sea monster sent
to Ethiopia as punishment for the boasting of queen Cassiopeia. The monster nearly killed andromeda, daughter of Cassiopeia and cepheus but the monster its self was kill by the hero perseus.
Cetus is a large constellation, and is relegated to the southern sky—far from Andromeda, Cepheus, Cassiopeia, and Perseus.
The ancient people thought the Cetus was a large whale.
