• Melatonin is produced in the pineal part of the brain.
• Helps maintain other hormones.• Keeps our body’s internal clock
on schedule.• Is a critical part in when we fall
asleep and when we wake up.
Where is Melatonin produced and what does it do?
• The body produces more Melatonin in the dark and less in the light.
• Jetlag, night shifts, and bad vision, and Insomnia can be factors in loss of Melatonin.
• Insomnia is one of the worlds largest sleep problems. Insomnia is when a person’s Melatonin levels are off
rhythm and the body can’t determine when its supposed to wake up, resulting in loss of sleep, a hard time falling or
staying asleep, and difficulty staying awake.
