A preposition is a word used to show the relation of a noun or pronoun to some word in the sentence.

A preposition is a word used to give detail, style, and meaning to sentences.

The Prepositional Phrase

• A prepositional phrase is a group of words beginning with a preposition and usually ending with a noun or pronoun.

– for Lisa and you– after the game– in the park

These phrases can act as adjectives or adverbs, thereby giving more detail to our writing.
