Oak Class cast their minds back to their recent visits to the beach in order to respond to a request put out by Newsround. The project, commissioned by the National Trust, wanted people around the country to submit their favourite seaside sounds so they could be recorded and retained for years to come. Three of our children had their entries published on the website; the whole class were excited by the communication with the BBC. I like the sound of the seagulls and the pebbles crunching when people walk across them. I like the sound of people skimming rocks across the water and the munching of people eating their hot dogs. - Daniel, Sussex When I think of the seaside, I think of the sounds when you put a shell next to your ear and you can hear the sea. - Summer, Sussex I would recognise the sound of the seaside because of the shore line coming up and hitting against the rocks. Helen, Sussex Our Year 6 children ventured down to Brighton for a day of banking and beaches. In conclusion to a 4 week money programme, delivered by Metro Bank, they were invited to the Brighton store where they learnt about banking on the shop floor, finding out about foreign currency and even setting foot in the impressive vault! A huge THANK YOU to the Metro banking staff for their generosity and time which they put into this final session and programme as a whole.
