IIC WEBINAR ON VOICE EXPERIMENTS

The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) of SKCET organised a webinar

on „Building Engaging Voice Experiments with Alexa‟. Mr.Karthik

Ragubathy, Solutions Architect, Alexa Skills Kit, Amazon was the

resource person. IIC students and faculty members from various departments

attended the session. Problem statements in Smart India Hackathon, creating

Alexa skills and insights on automatic speech recognition were discussed.

EEE | BRAKES INDIA HACKATHON REVIEW

The faculty members conducted a review for the student team shortlisted for

the Brakes India Hackathon 2020 which is to be held at Chennai on

07.02.2020. The faculty members gave their valuable suggestions to refine the

presentation and conducted a mock defense session.

Panel Discussion on Sector-wise presentation of Union Budget was

conducted for the First year students of School of Management. The students

presented the budget for various sectors like Automobile, Agriculture, Banking,

Defense, Education, Health Care, Import and Export duty, Irrigation and Rural

Development, Information Technology, Marine and Fisheries and Startups. This

helped the students to have a better understanding about budget preparation

and its role in economic growth.

SCIENCING ARTICLE: HYPERLOOP

Hyperloop Transportation

Technologies (HTT) is in process

to sign Letters of Intent with the

Indian Government for proposed

route between Chennai and

Bengaluru in which the distance of

345 km could be covered in 30

minutes. India's first Hyperloop

project connects Amaravathi to

Vijayawada in a 6-minute ride.

A Hyperloop is a proposed mode of passenger and/or freight transportation, first

used to describe an open-source vactrain design released by a joint team from

Tesla and SpaceX. Hyperloop is a sealed tube or system of tubes through

which a pod may travel free of air resistance or friction conveying people or

objects at high speed while being very efficient, thereby drastically reducing

travel times over medium-range distances.

Inter-department audit experts Dr.D.Maruthachalam, HOD - Civil and

Dr.S.Balakrishnan, HOD- CSBS verified the NBA files of CSE department and

shared their valuable suggestions for the augmentation of NBA documentation.

IT | WINNERS OF YUKTHA 2020

Ariprasath T, Ashwin V, Ashwin Biju and Dhanush A S, students of Third

year Information Technology won Second prize in the event ‘Follow You

Vision’ in YUKTHA 2020 at PSGitech, Coimbatore.





APP OF THE DAY |FINGER CAD

FingerCAD is a very useful application for rough sketching out of ideas on

site.

It allows to design things in 3D which gives a draft overview visualization of

the floor space or item whilst on site.

Special Features of FingerCAD

FingerCAD "COLOR 3D VIEWER": You can visualize the colored 3D

models using the colors assigned to the drawn CAD objects

Ability to calculate the measurement of the area of a generic polygonal

3D surface

Ability to insert generic polygonal filled surfaces

VRE (Virtual Reality Exploration) using Finger3D together with

FingerCAD: 3D model can be designed and observe it using first person

view.





CSE | ICSSR PAPER PRESENTATION

TheepaVishal Raj and Madhuaravindh K S, Pre-final year students from the

Department of CSE presented a paper titled „Smart blind ATM’ in the

National Level Seminar on „Startup business for economic revival

prospect and challenge’ organized by Indian council of social science and

research(ICSSR). The team received great appreciation from the jury

members for their innovative ideas.





CIVIL | CODIFY EVENT WINNERS

Students of Third Year Civil Engineering - Aadhish, Balaji and G.Kowshika

actively participated in the National Level Technical Symposium YUKTA:2020

held on 5th and 6th February 2020 at PSG Institute of Technology and

Applied Research, Coimbatore. The team has won Second prize with a

cash prize of Rs.1500/- in the Codify Contest.





CSBS | FACULTY INTERNATIONAL AWARD

Dr.S.Balakrishnan, HOD-CSBS has been awarded the “International Data

Science Writer of the Year 2019” at AI and Big Data expo in Silicon

Valley. He has been conferred with this International accolade for his

exceptional contribution of high quality white papers, use case and data

talk post in Data science and AI domains and rating points accrued over a

prolonged period of time. This meritorious award was selected by a Jury of 25

members from 10 countries. Principal Madam appreciated his research

recognition.
