CSE/CSBS HARVARD HACKATHON SHORTLISTED STUDENTS

Harvard Hackathon opens doors for 5 student teams of SKCET to

demonstrate their tech talents among global community at USA

In sequel to the super success of Four First Prizes at SIH 2019, SKCET students march

forward to demonstrate their coding skills at HackHarvard 2019 , a 36-hour Hackathon

event at Harvard University, USA during 18-20 Oct 2019.

The selection mail from Harvard University was received this weekend, after a gruelling

2 rounds of online prelims in which the teams made a mark of competence to elevate

SKCET to global dimension.

The Academic leadership team and faculty mentors of SKCET are tech-nurturing the

teams with necessary inputs to help them present the product at Harvard University on

October 18, 2019, in front of a panel of judges, ranging from Harvard Engineering

professors to Harvard startup co-founders, to software engineers at companies such as

Google, Microsoft and Facebook.

SKCET SEMINAR - INSTITUTIONS INNOVATION COUNCIL (IIC)

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of SKCET organised a seminar on "My Story -

Entrepreneurs Life and Cross Road". Mr.Rajarajan, CEO of Boston Creative Company

delivered the talk and discussed the modalities of starting a business. He encouraged the

students to float start-up and become young entrepreneurs.

EDC DST NIMAT - FUND

Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp through DST NIMAT project scheme

SKCET feels happy to share that EDII Ahmedabad has sanctioned Rs.60,000 to

organise 3 Entrepreneurship Awareness camps under DST-NIMAT project 2019-20 to

create Techno-Entrepreneurs and arrange resource persons through Entrepreneurship

Development Program agency.

ECE WORKSHOP ON EXPLORING MATLAB

Department of ECE organized a 'Workshop on Exploring MATLAB for Image

Compression Techniques' for III ECE students. Dr. S. Janarthanan, Image analyst,

Capgemini, Bangalore enlightened on the important applications of Image processing in

the field of Computer vision, Face and Optical Detection, Feature Extraction. A Hands-on-

Training on Image processing in real time applications was also a part of the workshop.





CSE HANDS-ON TRAINING FOR ROBOTIC PROCESS

AUTOMATION (RPA)

The First day of the training on RPA was deployed for 201 students of department of CSE

by AA University Trainers on the topics:

● Hello Bot

● Break the Ice

● Storing and Manipulating Data

● Automation Excel Operations





IT INFOSYS CONNECT WEBINAR

Infosys Campus Connect Webinar series on "ABCD : New Foundations of IT - Basics of

Cloud" was webcast today. Sixty students and four faculty from CSE and IT Department

participated in the Webinar series on “Basics of Cloud Computing” by Mr. Roy Arnold,

Infosys, Chennai.





MECH SAE INDIA BAJA WORKSHOP

The SAE Collegiate Club Team TRANSRYDERS comprising of racing members

R.Ajith (Captain),M.ArunPragash (Vice-Captain) of III year Mechanical Engineering

participated in National Level SAE INDIA BAJA 2020,a two day Mega Workshop hosted

at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Chennai.

addressed the students on the topic “Online certification courses on Human

Resources and its relevance for Jobs”.

MCT INDUSTRIAL VISIT

As a part of outside classroom learning pertaining to the course CNC machines and its

programming, students of III MCT A visited M/s Eppinger Tooling Asia Pvt. Ltd,

Coimbatore. They learnt about CNC machines, Gear Box Assembly, Tool Holder

Assembly and Rotary Table Assembly and Dispatching and various areas of Automation in

real time from the industry.

S&H SHORT FILM

The Department of Science and Humanities organized a Motivational Short Film Video

Show 'கற்றவை கற்றபின்' initiated Ministry for Information and Publicity for the

First year BE/B.Tech and M.Tech students. This short film exposes the students to a range

of real-world issues and allows students to connect to innovations and inspiration from

sources beyond their immediate environment.

Hindusthan college of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore today.





ECE INDUSTRY MENTORED PROJECT REVIEW

III year ECE Students under the guidance of Dr. S. Sophia, HOD/ECE presented their

project work on PCB design to Mr. Saravanan Maruthamuthu, Senior RF engineer,

Continental, German as a part of the industry collaboration project work.. The team

received positive comments with minor changes on layout size.
