INTRODUCTION
The District 5190, Area 4 Business/Professional Services Directory is a list of services provided by businesses and professions either owned by or associated with Rotarians who are members of the five western Nevada County Rotary clubs in Area 4 of Rotary District 5190.
The directory is intended to help facilitate Rotarians doing business with other Rotarians as well as to provide the public with a listing of businesses and professional services associated with Rotary. The reputation of Rotary and the high ethical standards of Rotarians and their adherence to the “Four Way Test” make the directory a valuable resource for Rotarians and the community seeking trusted providers of business and professional services.
The directory is also a resource where Rotarians and the public can go for information and advice from active and retired Rotarians about a particular business or professional service and get a truthful and ethical answer. There is no charge to be listed in the directory. The only requirement is to be a Rotarian in a Rotary Club in Area 4 who is an active or retired business owner, a provider of professional services, or a Rotarian who is employed by or associated with, a business or professional services provider. The directory will be published at the beginning of each year and will be posted on-line for electronic access and download by Rotarians and the public as desired. As changes occur during the year, updates to the on-line directory will be made as needed by the Grass Valley Rotary Club.
WHAT IS ROTARY?
Rotary is a leadership organization of local business, professional and civic leaders who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home and abroad.
We meet regularly and as neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers, we get to know each other, form friendships and through that, we’re able get things done.
Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary members have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed until the job is finished.

THE ROTARY FOUR-WAY TEST
The Rotary Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings.
Of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
THE OBJECT OF ROTARY
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and,
in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness
of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to
serve society;
THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and
community life;
FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a
world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Projects usually start with paper and pencil but soon move to 3D CAD software (Building Information Modeling) once the schematic design phase is approved by the client.
