COURSE DESCRIPTION & SYLLABI PAGES

This project is to create new versions of the Course Description and Syllabus pages. The existing pages in their existing format will still exist. The new pages we are creating for this project will be altered versions of the preexisting format for these pages.

Course Description page

Present Course Description Example can be found at: http://www.gowithcea.com/programs/spain/barcelona/1515/

course_description.html?course=7673

The new page will contain all of the same elements as present, but will have several adjustments made:

The new page will not be Offering-based. The URL will need to change up one level, as on the present version, it calls

based on offering. The new page is not nested within an offering, but the city. The new URL will follow this template:

o http://www.gowithcea.com/programs/COUNTRY/CITY/ course_description.html?course=COURSEID

e.g. http://www.gowithcea.com/programs/spain/barcelona/course_description.html?course=7673

Page Created on: Prod:

http://intranet/Applications/WebsiteManagement/PageEditor.aspx?PageID=537

Test: http://testintranet/Applications/WebsiteManagement/PageEditor.aspx?PageID=534

The left nav should highlight “Courses” instead of the session (e.g. Semester Programs)

The H1 will not be associated with a specific offering, but instead just read “Course Description”. Note: This is not reflected in the screen shot.

The H2 with the specific course name should be moved up and placed immediately beneath the H1. All other components on the page will fall below it. Note: This is not reflected in the screen shot.

There will be a box with logic similar to the one that renders for the code <span id='programtable' />.

o The offerings that pull into this box should follow the same logic as Dates & Prices for being Offered on Web and Open, and need to be associated with the Course ID.

o However, this box will be laid out slightly differently and it will pull programs and their offerings based on their association with the specific course. The purpose of this is so that users can tell which programs they are able to take that specific course under.

o Text for the content on the left-hand portion of the page should wrap around the box.

o The header for this box should read “This Course is Available through these Programs:”

o The session links in the menu will take users to the Overview page for that program.

o Graphic Requirements

See other document attached to SharePoint for code. There is a bug with the width; it displays fine in Firefox, but not in IE. Can you assist with this?

For the course description page, it should float right under the "Printable Version Icon, Aligning at top with the Course Title H2

The “Return to Course Listing” should still appear in the same way as it does presently: <a href="courses.html">Return to Course Listing</a>

o Note: The way this link is set-up, it will actually return users to the City Courses page instead of the offering Courses page, because it is pulling by page name and not by level. This is intentional.

e.g. http://www.gowithcea.com/programs/spain/barcelona/courses.html

The field “CEA Partner Institution” should read “Academic Institution” instead. The “Printable Version” link on the present page will need to be removed and

instead we need to add the standard “ | ” to the bottom right-hand corner as it displays and functions for other page templates.

The “View Syllabus” link will not change. o It’s placement should continue to be on the same line as the “Return to

Course Listing” link. As the “Printable Version” link is removed from that line, this link should be fully right aligned.

o They hyper link will remain the same: <a class="footer" href="course_syllabus.html?course=7677">

<img src="/uploadedImages/programs/courses/syllabiIcon.gif" width="12" height="13" hspace="3" border="0" align="absmiddle">View Syllabus</a>

As the Course Description page is on a different level, this link written in this relative fashion will take users to the new non-offering specific syllabus page as related to the course.

That link will display in this fashion: www.gowithcea.com/programs/COUNTRY/CITY/ course_syl labus.html?course=COURSEID

o e.g. www.gowithcea.com/programs /costa_rica/san_jose /course_syllabus.html?course=4152

The description of changes for this new syllabus page is listed below.

The layout for this new Course Description page should follow that of the examples below.

Example 1 – multiple programs associated with a given course:

Example 2 – one program associated with a given course:

Syllabus Page

Present Syllabus Example can be found at: http://www.gowithcea.com/programs/spain/barcelona/1515/

course_syllabus.html?course=7673

The new page will contain all of the same elements as present, but will have a few minor adjustments made:

1. As indicated above, the link for this type of page will need to change to no longer include the offering; the change will simply move the page name up a level:

a. That link will display in this fashion: www.gowithcea.com/programs/COUNTRY/CITY/ course_syllabus.html? course=COURSEID

i. e.g. www.gowithcea.com/programs /costa_rica/san_jose/course_syllab us.html?course=4152

ii. Page Created on:1. Prod:

http://intranet/Applications/WebsiteManagement/PageEditor.aspx?PageID=538

2. Test: http://testintranet/Applications/WebsiteManagement/PageEditor.aspx?PageID=535

2. The H1 will follow the same change as the Course Description – it will modify from the program and offering name to the text “Course Syllabus”. Note: This is not reflected in the screen shot.

3. The H2 with the specific course name should be moved up and placed immediately beneath the H1. All other components on the page will fall below it. Note: This is not reflected in the screen shot.

4. The “Return to Course Listing” and “Return to Course Description” links should layout the same, but they are presently pulling dynamically and returning the user to the offering specific versions of those pages. The links need to change as follows:

a. Return to Course Listingi. Link to

www.GoWithCEA.com/programs/COUNTRY/CITY/courses.html1. e.g.

http://www.gowithcea.com/programs/spain/barcelona/courses.html

b. Return to Course Descriptioni. Link to

www.GoWithCEA.com/programs/COUNTRY/CITY/courses.html1. e.g.

http://www.gowithcea.com/programs/spain/barcelona/course_description.html?course=7673

5. The left nav should be present and highlight Courses.6. The remainder of the page will remain the same and pull the same

components. a. There is intentionally still no Printer Friendly version of this page.
