Letter President from the
At a recent Board meeting we realized that the Chamber has reached a milestone in the history of our organization. Established in 1949, we are thankful to each and every one of you for your support over the years allowing us to observe 2019 as our 70th anniversary.
The way we do business has evolved over time, however the same sentiment remains – support local business and the community.
Let us help you attain your desired professional milestone. Membership with the Roselle Chamber offers its members participation in various Chamber sponsored business meetings and community events. I encourage you to attend as many of these activities as you can to meet and interact with fellow chamber members. Through participation you’ll discover an avenue to promote your business with an opportunity to build new relationships while strengthening existing ones at the same time.
So be sure to get involved and stay involved!
Expand your networking circle at the Multi-Chamber Lunch on Tuesday, February 20th at Jameson’s Charhouse when we’ll hear from a Google expert on how to increase your online visibility. Join us for this month’s Business After Hours for complimentary beverage and appetizers at Friendly Ford on Wednesday, February 27th.
I hope to see many of you during these activities.

Annual Rose Parade
Mark your calendar for the 60th Annual Rose Parade on Sunday, June 2. This year’s parade promises to bring great musical and visual entries.
It’s not too early to start thinking about an attraction to enter into the parade. Entrant guidelines set by the Parade Committee include and are not limited to:
• The Rose Parade showcases community spirit. Display your pride in our community!
• Entries must show some effort in their presentation by providing visual or audio amusement. Failure to do so will disqualify your entry in a return invitation. Plain business vehicles with the sole purpose of handing out flyers will not be accepted.
• Individuals operating motorized vehicles must be at least 18 years of age with two years of driving experience and a valid driver’s license. Keep performances away from curbside to avoid potential collision with spectators. No spinning tires allowed.
• NO pyrotechnic displays or use of LP gas is allowed. • Candy and other giveaways MUST be handed out, not
thrown from floats or vehicles.• Use of high-pressure water guns is prohibited.• NO dogs allowed. Leave pets at home.
Check upcoming editions of our newsletter for your application to be a part of this annual community event.
We’re seeking volunteers to help with parade line-up and traffic flow. If interested, please contact the Chamber office.

Do you have news about your business that you want to share with Chamber members? Provide us with your announcement for this Member News column. Space is limited and will be available on a first-come first-serve basis. Submissions for consideration are due by the 20th of the month prior to publication (e.g., by February 20th for the March issue). Call or email Gail Croson at the Chamber office to be a part of Member News.
In the upcoming months the Board of Directors will be working on the Chamber’s 2019 Calendar of Events. As a staple, our calendar provides for Business After Hours event on the fourth Wednesday of the month which are hosted by member businesses.
Our partnership begins with the Chamber’s promotion of the event followed by an invitation to the membership. Reservations will be collected by our office and reported to our host as we get closer to the event. At the event, a Chamber provided Ambassador will greet and provide name badges for all attendees.
As a member host, there are many elements to consider in preparing for a successful event which include:
offering a variety of complimentary warm and cold appetizers,
complimentary beverages to include wine, beer, pop and water (mixed drinks optional),
contributing item(s) for raffle drawing, and
providing a Greeter Table for Chamber Ambassador to register guests and collect their business cards for raffle.
This is a terrific opportunity to bring 50 or more potential customers into your business while at the same time offering fellow-Chamber members a networking venue. If you’d like to host an After Hours, please contact Gail Croson at [email protected] or (630) 894-3010.

Applications Now Being
Accepted for Citizen Police
AcademyThe Roselle Police Department is now accepting applications to its 2019 Citizen Police Academy. The 11-week program is scheduled to begin in mid-March, and will meet on Thursday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. through the end of May.
What It IsThe Roselle Citizen Policy Academy, in the spirit of community-oriented policing, is designed to help the residents of Roselle to understand how their police department works in their community. The Roselle Citizen Police Academy is an 11-week program designed to give the participants a working knowledge of the police department. It consists of a series of classes held one night a week for a three-hour duration. Classes are taught by our own police officers in their various areas of expertise. To ensure a valuable learning experience, class sizes will be limited. There is no cost to anyone who enrolls.
What It Is NotThe Roselle Citizen Police Academy is not designed to make applicants certified police officers. The classes are of an informative nature and are not intended to provide graduates with police authority to act as police officers.
If you have any questions about this initiative, please email Roselle Police Community Resource Coordinator Tamie Madden at [email protected] or call (630) 671-4067.
Flags for Roselle
SubscriptionThe Flags for Roselle flag subscription service is returning to Roselle for a third year. Through this service, volunteers will install a flag in the front yards of subscribing residents for Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Patriot Day, and Veterans’ Day this year. The flags will be installed early on these mornings and removed at dusk on the same day. To sign up for the program, please visit FlagsForRoselle.weebly.com.
Seeking VolunteersVolunteers are needed to help with installation with Flags for Roselle on the five designated holidays. Teams are made up of two to three volunteers, one driver and two to install the flags. Each team will receive eight to 10 addresses along with maps and instructions. The vehicle must be able to accommodate ten 8-foot flagpoles. Flags pick-up is at the Roselle Fire Department between 6:00 am and 6:30 am on each holiday with drop off between 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm. If interested, please email Dominic Manola, Lake Park High School at [email protected], or Maryann Grygiel, [email protected].
