Purpose

To determine when and why to change the default services conf igured in the Adaptive Process ing Server.

Overview

By default w hen installing Business Intelligence 4.x (aka BI 4.x) the Adaptive Processing Server w ill contain twenty-one services,

There are serveral methodologies used w hen creating multiple Adaptive Processing Servers. In addition, each subservice is configured to allocate between 1-2GB per service. This means that the out-o

the-box AdaptiveProcessingService w ill require ~25GBby itself.

Recommendations

SAP support recommends splitting the APS service into multiple smaller A PS services divided by f unctional area. This w ill significantly r educe overhead and resourc e consumption w hile maximizing the

administration flexibility by offering the ability to stop and disable unused APS services for specific functions that are not in use.
