Driven by passion and a need to succeed, Yogesh Me-
hta established Petrochem Middle East in 1995 with
friend and business partner David Lubbock. Yogesh
graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
from National College Bandra in Mumbai, India, and
his first job was at his father’s chemical manufactur-
ing factory in western India, where he honed his in-
nate leadership skills and gained valuable hands-on
business experience. Yogesh then went on to open his
own chemical trading business, which enjoyed fair suc-
cess. In a bold move, he relocated to Dubai in 1990.
Within five years, he managed to establish a business
by opening a state-of-the-art storage terminal for bulk
and drum chemicals. Petrochem Middle East has since
grown from strength-to-strength to become one of the
largest independent petrochemical distributors in the
Middle East. Yogesh became a Harvard Business School
Alumnus when he obtained his Executive MBA in 2003;
his success story has been widely documented, and in
2010 he was ranked seventh in the Arabian Business
Indian Power List.

Magazines in this sector come and go but those that do survive do so
because they offer something that their audience want and need and
find relevant and applicable.
The idea to develop Business Insight as a magazine and knowledge based platform
came about through our meetings and discussions with hundreds of individual entre-
preneurs, investors and leaders of startup businesses and SMEs.
It was these creative minds that told us what was really missing in terms of a
publication for ‘start ups’ and ‘small and medium enterprises’. We are more than
just another publication as we are able to reach our readers by print, website, so-
cial media, newsletters, networking events, workshops (such as Knowledge series),
mentoring (Incubator advice and support), clubs and awards.
We are well connected with our audience and they usually tell us what they want
from us. We are always evolving and are embedded within the business sectors
we communicate with. We are a part of this community and are well supported
regionally to continue to grow and develop this area of news, advice, information,
and knowledge sharing.

The Knowledge series events are run monthly throughout the year and are of-
fered free of charge to all members. Each event has one or two speakers and a
panel of experts and each covers one specific topic such as employment contract
law, social media and marketing, branding, finance and accounting, technology
and a very wide range of other potential topics of use to companies setting up
and operating in the region. Each of these events attracts from 80 to 500 mem-
bers depending on the subject of interest.
All speakers are professional experts on the particular topic for the event and are
required to be able to be informative and knowledgeable. Sponsors are permitted
to put forward their own relevant and interesting topics for specific events, which
will be considered.
Organizing successful networking events, round table forums, knowledge series
platforms, and educational workshops is an art form and we have used our expe-
rience and expertise to offer a very positive and rewarding experience time and
time again.
Our events give our exclusive partners the opportunity to position and deliver
their brands to a large number of qualified potential clients. They give our part-
ners the platform to reach out to a huge number of professionals from a wide
range of business sectors.
We deliver what we set out to through a selection of round table forums offer-
ing lively debate, monthly knowledge series workshops, networking events and
through clubs and associations such as the CXO and SME Club.
