Suppose you’re Maria. Read the dialog with an appropriate tone(语调) and pay attention to the underlined words and sentences. Then answer the questions.
M: International Fashion Supplies, sales department. Maria speaking. How may I help you? B: Hello, this is Bob Morgan, Purchasing Manager with chic boutique. I’m going to be in
New York next week and I’d like to arrange an appointment with your sales director to discuss potential new orders.
M: I’m afraid Mr. Carey will be away on a business trip all of next week. But I am sure his assistant Mrs. Cassie would be delighted to meet with you. Which day would suit you best?
B:Well, I’m arriving on Monday afternoon and leaving on Thursday morning. So anytime on Tuesday or Wednesday would be okay.
M: Let me just check Mrs. Cassie’s schedule. She’s free all Tuesday afternoon. Would that be convenient?
B: That would be fine. M: Shall we say two o’clock? B: Could you make it a bit later? I may have a lunch meeting on that day. M: Three then? B: Yes, that would be preferable. M: So 3 p.m. on Tuesday June 24th. Have a good trip and see you next week.
