BUSINESS By Cameron Short Slide 2 HOW I HAVE CARRIED OUT MY RESEARCH I carried out my research by going on certain websites and also using my common knowledge. The information that I have had to find out is what the two companies actually do as a company and their purposes. For this piece of work in particular, I have had to find out how both businesses are ethical. I have done this by looking at certain review websites. Slide 3 THORPE PARK Thorpe Park is in Chertsey, Surrey, England. It has the slogan The Nations Thrill Capital and it opened May 24th 1979. There is only one Thorpe Park in England and it is one of the most popular theme parks in England. It has such rides as: The Swarm, Stealth, Saw, Nemesis Inferno and Colossus. They have a resort inside Thorpe Park that family's can book and stay in. There is a nice range of food and drink that you can have if you are staying over night, such as: Roast and Relish, Desperados Mexican Cantina, 360 Bar and Grill, Battered Fish and Chips and many, many more. Slide 4 GALLIANOS Gallianos is a small Pizza takeaway place along Gaywood in Kings Lynn. It has a 5 star hygiene rating and It sells all kinds of different Pizzas with different toppings on. The pizzas are usually cheap so it is good if you are hungry when you are out. They also deliver pizzas to peoples houses which is really handy. These are that they both sell products to the customer and they both sell food. Galliano's obviously sell food as they are a pizzeria but Thorpe Park also do because they own restaurants inside of the park. Both companies along with every other company in the world, sell products to people. You cannot be a company without doing so. Slide 8 BUSINESS ACTIVITIES OF THORPE PARK. Sector: Thorpe Park is in the tertiary sector because they sell merchandise to people that have visited Thorpe park and the park is also selling the rides to people. Main Activities: There main activity is Offering Entertainment. Other Activities: Sponsorship Sell Merchandise to the customers Sells food and Drink 4D Cinema Shows Employ people Advertise the Park Train Staff Fright Nights Slide 9 BUSINESS ACTIVITIES OF GALLIANO'S Sector: Gallianos is in the Secondary and Tertiary sector because it makes and sells products to people. Main Activities: There main activity is to sell people pizza to people Other Activities: To make the customers happy Sell hot food Employ people To Make Pizzas Train Staff Advertise Slide 10 REASONS FOR CHOOSING THE TWO BUSINESSES The reason that I chose Thorpe Park was because the whole class had to use them as an example for our coursework. We chose this because they are a good template to build around and there are lots of different functional areas which meant that we gained a good understanding of what different parts there are to a business. We also visited the park as a school so we have first hand information about all of the rides because we have either seen them in person or we have rode them. The reason that I chose to write about Gallianos is because it is a local company that I regularly purchase food from when I am out. This means that I own a little knowledge about what the business is about. Slide 11 COMPARISON OF ACTIVITIES SimilaritiesDifferences To Employ people for the job.Thorpe Park make rides but Gallianos make pizzas. Sell Food to customers.Thorpe Park have advertisements on TV. To Train staff so that they are ready for the job. Thorpe Park sells drinks. To make the customers happy.Thorpe Park want people to have a good time, where Gallianos want people to have a good meal. They both sell things for familys to enjoy. They both have websites online. Slide 12 AIMS OF THORPE PARK Aims: To become market leader by beating Alton Towers To increase long stay visitors To increase mid-way attractions To create group synergy To develop the park To develop their rides Slide 13 OBJECTIVES OF THORPE PARK Objectives: To at least build one new park a year To increase the amount of returning customers on day two by 15% in one year To complete their accommodation building by 2013 To form a partnership with other companies. To increase overnight stay visitors by 10% in two years To hold three out of season events every year To create one new TV advert every year Slide 14 AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF GALLIANOS Aims: To sell pizzas to people. To make profit. To make the customers happy. To become a big pizza selling company in Kings Lynn. To be able to expand their business. To think of more ideas for their pizzas. To employ new staff. Objectives: To have bigger advertisements in the newspaper. To maybe have more Gallianos spread across the country. To have advertisements on TV. Slide 15 TO WHAT EXTENT ARE THE AIMS OF THORPE PARK BEING MET Thorpe Park are meeting there aims. One of these aims is that they are updating their rides. This means that they are bringing out new rides regularly. This keeps the visitors happy because it means that they will want to visit the park to try out the new rides. Another way that Thorpe Park are meeting their aims is that they are updating their park. This means that they are bringing out new attractions, restaurants and gift shops. Slide 16 TO WHAT EXTENT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF THORPE PARK BEING MET Thorpe Park are meeting there objectives. One of the objectives that they are meeting is that they are creating a new TV advert each year. Each year they bring out a new advert about a new ride. This is because at least one new ride is built each year. The other objective that Thorpe Park are meeting is that they are building a new park each year. Thorpe Park most recent roller-coaster that has been built is Swarm. Slide 17 TO WHAT EXTENT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF THORPE PARK NOT BEING MET Thorpe Park didnt meet the objective of completing their accommodation building by 2013. They had originally had the Crash Pad on site. This was supposed to be their accommodation building but they were not satisfied with it so a year later (in 2014) they built Thorpe Shark. To have more parks or pizzerias spread around the country. Gallianos want to think of more types of pizza designs. To become the best Amusement Park/Pizzeria in the country. How are they not ethical- Slide 23 OVERALL JUDGEMENT Overall, I believe that both Thorpe Park and Gallianos are ethical because they both do things to either help people or to help the environment.
