Accounting Technicians Ireland Year 1 & 2

Objectives:

This course will give participants the skills and knowledge to work in a wide variety of finance roles for

many types of organisations, including manufacturing companies, local and central government, the health

service, banks and insurance companies and private accountancy firms. Self- employment is also a possibility

for qualified technicians.

Content: Our course has two distinct years to cover – First year and Second year. First year gives you a foundation

knowledge of business and accounting, while Second year allows you to build a deeper understanding of

more advanced accounting issues. There is also a practical focus on the IT systems that are commonly used

in accounting.

By the time you have passed your exams, you will have learned to:

Prepare financial statements

Prepare financial reports and other management information

Compute tax liabilities for companies and individuals

Set up and manage credit control procedures

Use computers effectively in an accounts related environment

Understand the relevance of marketing, IT, Finance, LAW and HR to the accounting function

Set up and manage payroll and TAS/Sage packages

name, seen by many employers as essential when hiring

Special Needs Assistant QQI Level 5

Candidates who successfully complete this module will:

Be familiar with ways of relating to children with special needs

Be capable of creating and maintaining appropriate relationships with children, their parents, their

primary carers, teachers and other professionals

Digital Photography (with Alf Harvey)

Introduction to Photography, Camera types. What is in an image? Overview of the general uses and

methods of image making.

Digital Photography. Camera power, The camera, it’s components, features and accessories. Film

and Digital Cameras compared.

Shutter speeds, Apertures and settings. Correct use of these controls with regard to a wide variety of

photographic situations.

Composition and conception of the picture. Combining the distance, shutter speed and aperture

settings to produce pictures which conform to the pre-conceived picture taking plan.

The computer and the camera. Downloading the images. File types and images to suit different

requirements. Intro to Picasa 3

Photography Workshop. (taking pictures outdoors & indoors if possible) 11am-1pm

Image manipulation. Removal of unwanted areas in pictures.

Summary, Using Windows Movie Maker to present your photographs.

Course content:

This course aims at introducing the participant to the methods and resources used in producing their own

family history in an informed and enjoyable manner. This will be achieved by:

1. introducing the participant to the range of available research resources.

2. encouraging the participant to produce their own family history whilst working in a group experimental

setting.

3. outlining some of the pitfalls in carrying out a family history

This course will explain how the beginner can produce a family history. The learners will be introduced to a

range of available historical sources. The topics covered in the course will include reading maps (land

divisions and administrative boundaries), placenames, oral history and folklore and essential records (census,

church, land, etc.). The course will deal with how to accurately record your research, avoid some research

pitfalls and how everyday objects can give vital clues to your family history.

Be capable of drawing a sustainable garden design.

The specific learning outcomes are grouped into 6 units:

This class is suitable for those people, who like cake decoration and are looking to learn basic and new

techniques for sugar craft. This class is at a beginner’s level

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to devise and

conduct internal food standards audits in compliance with quality management systems.

Welding Courses Course Aims:

The aims of these welding courses are to up-skill and develop candidates knowledge with in the aspects related

to the welding course of their choice.

At Metac we provide a wide range of welding process for all levels, both entry (hobby) and Advanced.

Each class will have informative theory for 15 minutes prior to Practical Welding, related to the Welding

process.

Candidates will be participating in a controlled environment with extraction from each Welding bay.

Our Welding courses are delivered to a high standard, with a one to one tuition experience from our Welding

Trainer.

Manual Metal Arc welding (Basic 9 weeks)

Candidates will develop specify welding techniques and complete various weld

joints in the Flat position.
