Bus Policy

Uniform

All students must wear the full Barker school uniform when waiting at bus stops and travelling to and from School. Students travelling on the 5.20pm service to St Ives, Terrey Hills and Beaches, may wear their sport uniform, or their full Barker tracksuit.

Behaviour

• Do not distract the driver or interfere with the operation of the bus

• Board and leave the bus in an orderly manner

• Respect bus property and the property of others

• All students must be seated and wearing a seat belt

• Place bags under the seat, near your feet or in the storage areas provided – not on the seats

• Eating or drinking is not permitted on Barker buses. Drinking water is acceptable.

• Treat other students and the bus driver with respect

• Be courteous and keep conversations to a reasonable level

• Swearing is not acceptable

• Digital media should not be shared with other students on the bus

• Do not move around the bus while it is in motion

Any report of inappropriate behaviour or misconduct may result in the following action:

• Warning from the School

• Suspension from using the bus service

• Barker bus pass revoked

Barker Bus Pass Conditions 2019

A Barker bus pass will be issued to a student on the purchase of a pass online.

• The pass will be issued once per student and remain operational for the length of time they attend the School.

• If the pass is lost students will need to see the General Duties Officers (GDO) to have a new pass issued and a $20 charge will be billed to your School account.

• The pass will clearly state the name of the student, the bus route they have purchased travel on and if the pass is a Return, One-Way or Casual pass. This will allow bus drivers to easily identify that students are travelling on the correct bus.

• Students will need to tap on and tap off for each journey. It is vital that they do so for the safety and welfare of students and so that casual pass users are billed correctly.

• If you cancel your bus pass it must be returned to the GDO office within one week.

• Students who attempt to travel to School on the bus without a valid pass will have their name taken and parents will be billed for the journey and a request for a bus pass to be purchased will be made.

• Students who attempt to board the bus to travel home without a valid bus pass will be asked to find an alternate way home. This is important so that the School has a list of students who have tapped on for safety and identification.

Forest Coach Lines Pty/Ltd

It should be noted that during scheduled servicing or following daily safety checks, a replacement bus may be provided by Forest Coach Lines. These replacement buses may not carry the Barker College insignia nor be equipped with air conditioning or seat belts.

In an effort to keep to the timetables the bus is unable to wait past the published pick-up times, so students must be at the designated bus stop well in advance of the scheduled time of departure. Notification will be given whenever possible of any timetable changes.

Every effort is made for the bus to keep to the current timetable. However, Forest Coach Lines and/or the bus driver have no control over the volume of traffic encountered or other potential general peak hour delays contributing to and affecting the general flow of traffic during the times the bus service is being provided.

If parents wish to request a change to the published timetable they should contact the School directly on 02 8438 7999 and not make individual arrangements with the driver.
