Buoyant Forces and Liquid

• Buoyant Force is an upward force which acts on an object that is being completely or partially immersed in a fluid

Archimedes’ Principle

• It states that for a body completely or partially immersed in a fluid, the upward buoyant force acting on the body is equal to the weight of the fluid it displaces.

Why does the boat float on water?• The buoyant force that acts on the boat is equal to the weight of the boat.

Why does an anchor sink?

• The weight of the anchor is more than the maximum buoyant force acting on.

How submarine float and sink?

• A submarine can dive into the water and resurface. It is done by manipulating its overall weight. It changes the volume of water in its ballast tanks.
