School Spirit was hit or miss. It depended on what people thought of the bunnymascot. There were two things that a person could feel when called themselves abunny. They were either proud of being such a unique mascot or be disappointedthat it was not the strongest mascot out there. "Being a bunny was a good thing because we didn't have a typical mascot,"Cristhian Quirino, senior, said. The decision to be bunny sometimes spanned generations. Students followed thefootsteps of family members to become a part of the rich tradition of the fluffle. "I liked being a bunny because the rest of my family came here," Raven Kercheval, junior, said. The hardwork of the athletes was hidden behind the mask of a bunny. Those whodid not like the mascot, didn't believe in what the Bunnies could do. This impacted allstudents., especially on athletes. "I think there was a lack of interaction with school spirit because in real lifebunnies were weak, and that was why we were made fun of," Angel Bautista, senior, said. "If we were more involved, we'd be a better school." When there was no cheering, there was no game. When there was no game,Benson looked weak. When Benson looked weak, no one believed in the Bunnies. When no one believed in the Bunnies, it was the same thing around and around. Even though some students didn't really call themselves a Bunny, theaccomplishments that the students made will always be remembered and notovershadowed. Everybody in the school had a little spirit in them even though theymight have showed it. but could feel it when playing in sports. All in all, there were a few students here and there that gave their all to cheeron the teams. They wanted the best for the school. They wanted the best for theirclassmates. "Whenever I'm at a game, which I've gone to almost all for any kind of sport, Iloved saying 'you're in the garden, act like it'," Brooklynn Burns, junior, said.

When it came school spirit, Benson alumScott Wright was full of it. He was knownfor helping out both the football andbasketball teams.. At each game he wasready to provide the players with waterand support. To him it was not about howmuch work he saw the team put into agame, but how he helped out the team. "I've been helping the Boys VarsityFootball and Basketball teams since myfreshman year here at Benson High School. Icame here from 1997 to 2001," Wrightsaid. "That's 18 years of helping out with thewater. I started helping because I thoughtit'd be cool to be on a team."
