1 Club Social The August club social event was held on Sunday the 4 th at the Railway Hotel. There was a good crowd of regulars in attendance. There were also a number of people who were making the most of the meals offered by the kitchen. They were treated to a mix of classic and modern country music with a number of original songs included throughout the day. Deb Cook who kept the show rolling through the afternoon hosted the program. The band, as always, rose to the occasion, by providing a good base for the performers to present their songs. Thanks must go to Wayne, Gary, Peter, Jan, Joan, Steve, Kane and Paula for putting the notes in the correct order and at the right time. Jason and Rex on the mixer did a top job of providing a pleasing sound for those listening. Thanks also to those who set up and pull down each time there is an event. Catch of the day goes to Joan when her guitar strap failed mid song. She caught the heavy wayward instrument in her left hand and continued singing the song whilst barely missing a beat. This is a sign of a true musician. The next club social playout will again be held at The Railway Hotel on Sunday September 8 Th starting at 12:30 pm. Presidents Report G'day The crew at Homestead put on yet another great Youth Talent Expo this year which was held on the 10th of August. The festival was well attended with over 100 entries for the day. It was great to see a number of Bundaberg club members attend the festival this month. All of the Bundaberg crew came home with placings and Keely Sliwka took out the overall juvenile prize. Congratulations to all involved. I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped with our social this month. It was another great day and overall and numbers were up from our previous social. The Railway Hotel is proving to be a popular venue for our social. If you haven’t yet made it to the Railway Hotel for one of our socials, make sure you get along to the next one. If you like country music, fantastic food and cold beer, you won’t be disappointed. Sadly the Bundaberg and Cool Country Club has lost one of it members this month. My condolences go out to the family and friends of Bill Gale. I'm sure Bill will be greatly missed by many. I believe this will be my last presidents report as Paula and Myself will be taking a break from committee positions as of this year's AGM. On behalf of Paula and myself I would like thank everyone who pitched in to support the club during our time in management. We would also like to commend the incoming management team for their commitment to the club and I must say that the club will be in great hands going forward. As an outgoing message to club members I think it is important we remember that a great deal of extra volunteer work goes on behinds the scenes by committee members to ensure the club runs smoothly. It is important we support these people that are going the extra mile and pitch in wherever you can to make their load a little lighter. By doing this everyone can enjoy the great benefits that our club has to offer. Cheers Kane

Artist Spotlight – I will be featuring an artist from our club each month. I will approach members at practice nights and ask for an overview of your career in the music world. Many of our club members have been performing for a while but do not do it as a source of income. For some of us, it is about sharing music with family and friends or entertaining those who are less fortunate than ourselves. I consider every person in our club as equal and as such will be including amateur and pro alike. If I ask for your story, please feel free to decline the opportunity but sharing just a few lines about your experiences will help us all to know and respect each others gifts and talents. When asked, please send an email to [email protected] Include things like your Preferred Name Where and when you started singing or playing When you first performed in front of a crowd Favourite song or piece of music Your musical highlight The best concert you have attended. I also will need your favourite photo of yourself for the article. I trust that you all will support me in this making this work and hope that we find it beneficial to all members. Thank you David Bishop.

The AGM The 2019 Annual General Meeting of Bundaberg Country Music Club Inc. was held at the Family Centre hall on Tuesday August 13th. The election of office bearers for the upcoming year proceeded with all nominated persons being voted into their respective roles unopposed. Evelyn Bury volunteered to fill the role of Publicity Officer. All in attendance graciously accepted this offer. It was noted, by a number of people, that this particular role is of utmost importance and Evelyn possesses a rare list of connections, experience and capabilities, which will be of great benefit to the club as a whole. Wayne Mothe addressed the meeting, speaking of the opportunities to continue to move the club in a positive direction by embracing change whilst still remaining faithful to the club’s traditional values. The future will be bright for the club if we all work together for the benefit of all concerned. Wayne obviously has a vision for the club and, as president, should rightly expect and receive all of the assistance necessary to fulfil his new role. There was some discussion regarding the future of the Easter time event with many ideas floated including format and date changes. Please consider any ideas that you may have and prepare to bring them forward for discussion at the next monthly meeting which will be held on Tuesday September 10th at 7:00pm. Thanks go to all of the previous holders of positions of responsibility who have kept the club running over the last 12 months. A list of all positions confirmed at the meeting appears below.
