Scenario During lunch period a girl is making her way through the lunch line when a

classmate approaches to ask her if they can cut in front of her place in line. The girl replies no, reasoning that it isn’t fair to the people behind her. Annoyed, her classmate shoves her forcefully and takes her place in the line.

Is this bullying? What should the girl do who got shoved to the ground?

Our School’s PolicyHARASSMENT – SEXUAL, RACIAL & RELIGIOUS (also see school District Policy #413)Sexual, racial or religious harassment would include but would not be limited to: verbal (name calling) and/or written

harassment or abuse, subtle pressure for sexual activity, inappropriate “patting”, pinching or touching, intentional brushing against the body of another, demanding sexual favors accompanied by implied or overt promise of preferential treatment, or any sexual violence which is physical act of aggression that included a sexual act or sexual purpose.

HAZING (also see School District Policy #526)In order to maintain a safe learning environment for all students, any student committing an act against another

student, or coercing another student into committing an act that creates a substantial risk of harm to another person, in order for the student to be initiated into or affiliated with a student organization, will be subject to disciplinary action.

BULLYING/INTIMIDATION (also see School District Policy #514)Rushford-Peterson High School will not tolerate acts of harassment, bullying or intimidation, which could include the

use of digital or electronic devices and the use of the Internet. We do not discriminate as a school nor do we allow for signs or symbols of discrimination (for example, the display of Confederate flags) Any students who engage in harassing behavior will be subject to prompt disciplinary action ranging from a warning to expulsion from school. If you believe you have been a victim or harassment, bullying, intimidation, either verbal or physical at Rushford-Peterson High School, please contact the principal immediately.

You and your parents can fill out the form and bring it back into your teacher.
