This research paper is one of the requirements in finishing the study in English

Department of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. In conducting this

Having physical deficiencies sometimes can cause a person to be bullied. The

consequences of bullying can affect a victim’s mental health. This study aims to

describe the types of bullying that experienced by August, find out how bullying

impacts Augusts’ psychosocial condition, and explain the solution that given by

the author concerning with bullying in Wonder novel. In this study, the researcher

used the theory of psychosocial development by Erikson. In this study, the

researcher used qualitative research. The results of this study can be concluded,

from Wonder novel there are four types of bullying that are relational bullying,

verbal bullying, physical bullying, and mental or psychological bullying. The

impact of bullying on August’s psychosocial condition is August became a loner

and anti-social at the school and at the playground. The solution that given by the

author concerning with bullying in Wonder novel is when there was an incident

with 7th graders in the nature retreat. When the incident occurred, the students’

mindset changed. The students considered August to be an extraordinary kid

because August bravely fought the 7th graders despite being bullied physically

and verbally.

Mempunyai kekurangan fisik terkadang dapat menyebabkan seseorang ditindas.

Konsekuensi dari penindasan tersebut dapat mempengaruhi kesehatan mental

korban. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis- jenis dari

penindasan yang di alami oleh August, menemukan bagaimana penindasan dapat

mempengaruhi kondisi psikososial August, dan menjelaskan solusi dari

penindasan yang di berikan penulis dalam novel Wonder. Dalam penelitian ini,

peneliti menggunakan teori perkembangan psikososial oleh Erikson.Dalam

penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan penelitian kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini

dapat disimpulkan yaitu, ada empat jenis penindasan dalam novel Wonder yaitu

pendisan relasional, penindasan verbal, penindasan fisik, dan penindasan mental

atau psikologis. Efek penindasan terhadap kondisi psikososial August yaitu

August menjadi penyendiri dan anti sosial saat di seklah dan di taman bermain.

Solusi yang di berikan penulis dalam novel Wonder adalah ketika terjadi insiden

dengan siswa kelas 7di acara rekreasi alam. saat insiden tersebut terjadi, pola pikir

para siswa menjadi berubah. para siswa menganggap August sebagai anak yang

luar biasa karena August dengan berani melawan siswa kelas 7 walaupun telah di

tindas secara fisik dan verbal.
