BCA Representative (Lesley Dehaas) – BCA Div III Generic Show in San Diego was a hit, Next show and meeting held in con-junction w/ PCBC, 2018 Nationals needs volunteers.

Bullpup (Scott Johnson) – No report.

Breeder’s & Futurity Matches (Sherian Evans) – No report.

Challenge Trophy (Lesley DeHaas) – Validating the current membership of the winners.

Champion Awards (Scott Johnson) – Only 1-blank plaque on hand, Kay to work back w/ contact to see if 24 more can be or-dered. No submittals are in hand for processing an award.

Fun Match (Brenda Newcomb) - Great turnout this year, lots of puppies, beautiful weather and the Chili Cook-off was a hit. A big thank you to our Judges; Lesley DeHaas and Richard Truong. Pictures reflected on pgs #13 - 14. OLD/UNFINISHED BUSINESS - Steinmetz Park Meeting place did not work out, costs were not ac-ceptable. We will continue to look for a second meeting place in the or nearer the OC area. - The April General meeting will be held at the Northkirk Presbyte-rian Church in Upland. - The Division to work on a contract for Al Breckley for the 2018/Div III 100th Anniversary Specialty.

NEW BUSINESS - Link proposed the follow idea to promote the 2018 Nationals and to tie it into our 100th Year Anniversary. A full description of the pro-posal is available by contacting Link or myself. The below is the background behind the proposal. More to follow in coming months. “The 2018 BCA National in Minneapolis over Halloween is going to be as unique as PCBC’s 100th anniversary that same year. Why? The 2018 National Show, for the first time since BCA was reorgan-ized before we were born, is being hosted by a truly national show committee rather than a single club or BCA Division. Robin Stansell, who judged intersex when PCBC hosted the National in 2012, is the 2018 National Show Chair. He has received permission to have a special attraction event at the 2018 Nationals, and attractions are not restricted by any AKC rules. For now, he’s calling the attraction a “Bulldog Top 20.” Another example of an attraction event would be the Bullyganza they have had at the Santa Barbara shows in the evening. Robin’s attraction event would be like a modified dog show with 3 judges (none of whom are regular bulldog judges) who score each dog while the spectators have a party and partially watch. Imagine a dog show in the middle of happy hour. The score sheets are tallied and a winner is chosen, and sometimes there’s a cash prize. Entries can be by invitation or limited to champions, and spec-tators generally contribute to the event either through sponsorship, ticket purchases or sometimes they can pay $5 to “vote” for a peo-ple’s choice winner. All you need to know today is that this is going to happen at a National for the first time in 2018.”



NEW BUSINESS (cont) After the above was read and discussed, four (4) motions were made, seconded and approved. 1) Motion - agree on general idea, tall/wide base topped w/ a bowl,

a single engraving plate on all 4 sides, front plate dedicated to the trophy name & theme. Lesley motioned, Link 2nd, Passed

2) Motion - agree to host a generic Division show in 2018 as a con-current Friday afternoon w/ Sand to Sea and accept Eva Dickey as Judge. Dennis and Lalaine to be Co-Chairs. Link motioned, Lesley 2nd, Passed.

3) Motion - agree a logo is needed, will be used in the 3rd qtr Bull-dogger Ad and on the trophy face plate. Request Sandra to lead with the design of the logo. Link motioned, Scott 2nd, Passed.

4) Motion - agree to authorize Kay as Club President to work w/ Link on the many details needed for this event. And bring back to the Club the Star Series Rules, Whether to have a second event and how to incorporate other ideas. Scott motioned, Sherian 2nd, Passed.

Bullpup (Scott Johnson) – Coming out this week. Slightly tardy but in the works. Breeder’s & Futurity Matches (Sherian Evans) – Judges need to be selected at the May meeting. Challenge Trophy (Lesley DeHaas) – Lesley has notified everyone and sent reminders. The awards will be given out Saturday after Breed in the show room. Champion Awards (Scott Johnson) – PEOPLE!!!! You need to send your forms to Scott so he can process them. The trophies have been ordered. Fun Match (Brenda Newcomb) - Was fun! Sherian Evans won the Chili cook off. Winners will be in the Bullpup. Membership (Debra Munt) – 141 members have renewed. Rikki Zeller and Jim Dickinson need Gold Cards. Debra/Scott will contact Cindy Liebeck for Gold Card information and execution. Debra re-ported rescue monies paid with membership dues totaled $235.00 Scott Johnson moved and Brenda Newcomb 2nd that PCBC donate $265.00 to even the donation to $500.00. The motion passed and Lydia wrote and gave the check to Debra during the meeting.


April Meetings Minutes (cont) (draft copy) Specialty (Sherian & Kay) 1) Trophy donation at $1,300.00 less than half of what we need. 2) Bring bottled water and paper towels to the show site. 3) Poop buckets, bags, scoops and detail were discussed. Kay will obtain bags and bucket liners. Debra will call Gay Lewis concerning “holders” for the bags. 4) BRING YOU CHAIRS TO RINGSIDE!!!!!!!! 5) If you are bringing an RV or know someone who is have them contact Bill Gray. Spaces are limited. 6) Judge change announcement made and sent. 7) Set up crew Thursday at 2 PM at the show site: Antonio, Scott, Bradley Cooper, Willie Quesada, possibly Chris Candelario. 8) Ice will be handled by Lydia and Scott. 9) NO EATING IN THE SHOW ROOM…..NO EXCEP-TIONS….EVER….NEVER..NO WAY…NO HOW! The wizard has spoken! 10) Rooms must be available for room check daily. No “Do Not Dis-turb” signs allowed. 11) Lydia is in charge of Dr. Butchko’s clinic 10 AM to Noon. 12) Lunch will be at the RV’s 13) Cyndee and Jeff handling raffle. Please bring your items to the show ring. 14) Joy will pick up the Sweep Judge at ONT airport. Kay and she will exchange information. Rescue Committee (Debra Munt) – $265.00 donated to Rescue by PCBC. SoCal Bulldog Rescue will have a table at the show at 8 AM. Check their web site for activities.


April Meetings Minutes (cont) (draft copy) Social Media (Lydia Torralva & Sherry Webb) Sherry doing a great job and Lydia is gathering information to be posted about the show in the page. OLD/UNFINISHED BUSINESS Link provided a quick update on the 100 Years of Stars program. You’ll recall that the Palm Springs Kennel Club show week-end will be our initial launch for the 100th celebration. Everything is in order for a concurrent generic Division specialty on Friday after-noon, January 5th at the Polo grounds. Eva Dickey has accepted the assignment and will not be charging us anything for expenses. Be-cause Sand to Sea has agreed to pick up the costs for printing, I think it will be most affordable and certainly easiest if we just let Bradshaw include the concurrent show with the Sand to Sea pre-mium list. I will calculate the cost and to the extent it’s more than a nominal amount, I’ll be responsible for getting donors or use ribbon donor money so that PCBC can turn all the show profits over to the Division as required. I’m assuming PCBC can pay a nominal amount as a donation to the 2019 National but beyond that, I’ll get it taken care of. We have 3 breeder judges lined up for the 5 shows that weekend. I have also discussed the rules for the Series of Stars with Robin Stansell and will make suggestions to the Board at the May meeting. I have also identified a trophy designer with Midwest Tro-phy in Oklahoma City. They do the medallions for BCA and are gen-erally familiar with what we like. More details to follow. I have two requests for the Club. We need to find out if we can hold the first Star Series attraction at that RV park near the polo grounds, and also have the party there. We don’t need a kitchen for the party, but we will need space preferably indoors but outdoors can work too. Make sure we can serve (but not sell) alcohol. Can Bill try to research this for us? We also need someone to work on a logo. I have not talked to Sandra Martinez about it, but I will reach out to her if no one else in the Club has a faster, better solution.
