EDUCATION

Schools in Mumbai are either "municipal schools" run by the BMC or private schools run by

trusts or individuals, which in some cases receive financial aid from the government. The schools

are affiliated either with the Maharashtra State Board (MSBSHSE), The all-India Council for

the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), National Institute of OpenSchooling (NIOS) or the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) boards. Marathi or

English is the usual language of instruction.

Most colleges in the city are affiliated with the University of Mumbai, one of the largest

universities in the world in terms of the number of graduates. The Indian Institute of

Technology (Bombay), Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), University

Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT) which are India's premier engineering and

technology schools, and SNDT Women's University are the other autonomous universities in

Mumbai. The Sir J. J. School of Art is Mumbai's oldest art institution.

CULTURE

Mumbai's culture is a blend of traditional festivals, food, music and theatres. Mumbai'shistory as a major trading centre has led to a diverse range of cultures, religions and cuisinescoexisting in the city. Mumbai is the birthplace of Indian cinema — Dadasaheb Phalke laidthe foundations with silent movies followed by Marathi talkies —and the oldest filmbroadcast took place in the early 20th century.

Contemporary art is featured in both government-funded art spaces and private commercialgalleries. The government-funded institutions include the Jehangir Art Gallery and theNational Gallery of Modern Art. Built in 1833, the Asiatic Society of Bombay is one of theoldest public libraries in the city. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya

(formerly The Prince of Wales Museum) is a renowned museum in South Mumbai whichhouses rare ancient exhibits of Indian history.

Mumbai residents celebrate both Western and Indian festivals. Diwali, Holi, Eid,Christmas, Navratri, Good Friday, Dussera, Moharram, Ganesh Chaturthi, Durga Puja andMaha Shivratri are some of the popular festivals in the city.

FOOD

Indian food is as varied as India, every region and state having its characteristic dishes, and you can get them all here. Western restaurants abound, if you wish a taste of home, butbeing in India demands dining on Indian food.

Although you'll find western fast food restaurants in all areas, in this city fast food stillmeans Bhelpuri, Pav Bhaji or Panipuri. And Vada pav

Vada pav (Marathi:  °Ý   Ý ) , sometimes spelled wada pav, is a popular vegetarian fast food

dish native to the Indian state of Maharashtra. Vada pav was supposedly devised by snackvendor Ashok Vaidya outside Dadar station in 1971

Rotaract club of Dombivli is one of the oldest Community club in the Dist.

3140 completing 40 glorious years. It all started in January 1972, the year

when the club was formed. The club was chartered on 25th march 1973 by

the hands of the Dist. Governor of R. I. Dist. 3140 Rtn. C. V. Jog at Rotary

Seva Kendra. The charter President Rtr. M. R. Patil laid down the

foundation of the Rotaract Club of Dombivli and since then the club had

not looked back and it’s growing in leaps and bounds. In the year 1986, the

President started Yuvak - Yatra, a youth festival that provides a platform

for building artists to display their talent. Since then the project has

become one of our mega project we organize successfully every year and

which is quiet popular amongst the youth of Dombivli. And another project

is ‘JALLOSH’ which is an interschool drawing competition for all children. Our mega Community Service project is ‘SHRIKANT’ where we provide

note books, science equipment and compass box to the un-privileged

students of around 10 Adivasi villages. Our another mega project started

last year in Public Relation Avenue called ‘RANBHOOMI’ in which one act

play competition was conducted around all over MAHARASHTRA. The

finals were held at Savitribai Auditorium, Dombivli attended by Renowned

Celebrities and Reputed Personalities in Dombivli. In addition to this, we

conduct projects like workshops for 10th and 12th students, seminar onvarious technical and general topics, exchange teams where in members

from other District visit our club and our club and members of our club are

hosted by other clubs, blood donation camps, eye check up camps etc. We

are proud to say that we have given two DRR Rtr. Bharat Anikhindi and
