Bullfighting had a different develpment in France and Portugal.

In Portugal, it is illegal to kill a bull in the arena, so it is removed andslaughtered in the pens.

The French version of bullfighting is unique: bulls have a choice not to

fight or cows are used. Bullfighting was banned in Barcelona and in Catalonia in 2010.

Movements against animal cruelty agree that suffering is not acceptable, though they differ on the degree or motives behind that suffering.

Some protestors stress on cruelty and pitilessness treatments on thesacrified bulls, as they argue that the animal suffers unnecessarily.

In recent years, philosophers as Jeremy Bentham or Peter Singer havediscussed this subject regarding ethic issues as:

    Do animals feel pain?

    Are animals conscious?

What are the limits of human actions regarding animals?

Bullfighting is art. (works of Botero and Picasso)

No. Paintings of Botero and Picasso are art but their topics are not.

Nobody would consider as art the Bombing of Guernica or the Tortures of Abu

Ghraib because Picasso and Botero represented them.
