지난 화요일 저녁, 강당에서 2-5학년의 ‘Gladiators’공연을 보면서 이런 규모의 공연이야말로 학생들에게 정말 실제와 같은 정통한 경험을 하게 한다는 생각을 하였습니다. 그 배우들이 친구들과 관중들에게 보여준 모든 기술을 생각해 보세요. 그들은 그 배우 개개인들을 연기한 것 뿐 아니라 협연의 한 일원으도 연기하는 법도 배우고 있습니다. 몸동작, 표정, 대사와 노래를 기억해 내고 있습니다. 그들은 큰 공연장의 넓은 무대에서 관객을 위해 공연을 하고 있는 것입니다.
학생들을 평가하는 다양한 방법이 있습니다. 일반적으로 평가지에, 학습결과에 대한 평과 함께 점수를 받게 됩니다. 그러나 공연중에는 관중으로부터 바로바로 평가를 받습니다. 제가 제안하고 싶은, 점수나 성적표는 없으나 교실에서 받는 평가보다 훨씬 오래 기억에 남을 성취감을 맛보는 것입니다. 이것이야말로 진정한 학습 경험일 것입니다.
많은 학부모님들이 제게 ‘어떻게 선생님들이 이걸 다 하셨어요?’라고 쉽게 질문을 합니다. 그러나, 이런 값진 공연을 위해 선생님들의 큰 헌신이 있었으며 그로인해 학생들과 함께 그 한계를 뛰어넘는 공연을 할 수 있었답니다. 선생님들은 여러분들의 평도 듣고 싶어 하시므로 그들이 잘 했다고 생각하신다면, 꼭 기억했다가 표현해 주시기 바랍니다. 저희에게는 학생들, 학부모, 친구들과 선생님들을 계발시키려는 노력들을 인정해 주는 간절한 표현이 필요하답니다..

NNIS Board Update(운영위원회 소식) – Membership of the NIS Board
NIS Board(운영위원회)는 우리학교 가족들의 전출입으로 인하여 매년 그 항상성을 유지하는데 어려움을 겪는다. 그래서 운영위원회는 언제든지 발생할 수 있는 위원 결원을 대비하기 위하여, 관리위원 세 명으로 구성된 특별위원회를 조직하였다. 인원 보충이 필요한 경우, 운영위원회는 다양한 조직의 학부모를 영입하여 임무를 수행할 수 있도록 노력하고 있다.
총회 규정에 입각하여 고려하여야 할 두 가지 중요사항으로는:1. 결원을 위하여 임시로 선임되었던 후보는 반드시 다음 선거에
출마하여야 한다.2. 관리위원회로부터 공천받은 후보일지라도 임기만료된 위원공
석을 위한 투표에 다른 후보자들과 같이 선거에 출마하여야 한다.
다시 말하면 운영위원회가 위원들의 업무 연계를 위해 노력은 하지만, 최종 결정은 모든 회원들이 결정하게 된다는 말입니다. Louise Liu님이 올해 공천되었습니다.

Andy Chang 님과 Mirella Savegnago님이 2년 임기의 마지막에 있습니다. Mirella Savegnago님은 다음 임기를 위하여 2년 추가 임기를 위해 출마하기로 하였습니다. Andy Chang님은 재선거에 나서지 않기로 하였습니다. Louise Liu님은 올해 공천받아서 다음 선거에 자동출마하게 되었습니다.
Julia Gusten (Board Chair), Bernhard Weber (Finance Committee Chair), Patrick Heckelmann (Board Vice Chair) 님과 Monique Taylor (Governance Committee Chair) 님은 1년의 임기를 마치게 되므로 남은 임기를 더 수행해 주시기로 하였습니다.

귀하 자녀의 2014/15년도 1학기(2014년 8월-2015년 6월) 교육비를 안내해 드리겠습니다. Veracross의(https://portals.veracross.com/nis)-Parent Portal(학부모 계정)에 있는-My invoices를 참조하시기 바랍니다. 내년부터는 학생편에 보내던 교육비 서류를 발행하지 않을 계획입니다.
2014/15년도의 입학을 보장하는 의미로, 한 학생당 보증금 또는 최소 지불액에 해당하는 RMB 25,000를 지불하셔야 하며, 납기일은 4월 15일 입니다. 나머지 교육비RMB70,000는 5월 31일까지 지불 부탁드립니다.
이 보증금은, 만일NIS를 떠나시게 되는 경우, 6월 16일 이내에 입학처로 서면 통지를 하시는 경우, 전액 환불 가능합니다.

Student Led Conferences(학생주관 상담일)이 다가오고 있습니다. 이날은 여러분의 자녀들이 그들의 학습 내용을 여러분께 설명해 드리는 날입니다. 이 행사는 일년 중 매우 중요한 행사 중 하나이고 이번에는 4월 2일 수요일에 있을 예정입니다. Veracross에서 참여 시간을 예약하시기 바랍니다.

MYP 학생 주관 상담 2014년도에 새롭게 개발된 주안점학부모님께,
올해는 학생들이 지식의 응용, 공연 그리고 토의에 의해 알게 된 내용이나 새로운 기술들을 표현해 보는데 주안점을 두었습니다. 각 교실에서 학생들은:•Performing ... a dialogue / exercises / a technique•Solving... problems and explaining their method and applications •Describing...how learning has changed your opinion; how can the learning can be applied to real life•Comparing... a first draft to a second attempt•Setting ... specific and achievable goals for Semester 2•Identifying ... two stars and a wish 와 같은 설명들을 할 예정입니다.
이날은 정상등교일임을 기억하시기 바랍니다. 수업은 없으나, 학생들은 오전이나 오후에 반드시 출석해야 합니다. 그리고, 부모님이나 보호자와 동반해야 합니다. PYP학생이 있으시면 예약시간을 먼저 지키시기 바랍니다

지난 주, Mr. Fleming님은 전기 모터가 만들어지는 과정을 보여주기 위하여10학년 물리과 학생들을 Bosch Siemens Home Ap-pliance Park 로 데려갔습니다. 학생들은 어떻게 전기가 사용되고 생성되는지 공부하였습니다.

CISSA Junior Volleyball
Last Friday our 18 players for the CISSA Junior Volleyball travelled to Shanghai to participate in the tournament on Saturday at Shanghai American School. We made up 3 teams, teams played between 6 and 8 games. Our players improved significantly over the season.
All teams won some games and enjoyed the experience of playing against many school from Shanghai.Erik, Felicity and Anthony were selected by their teammates to play in the representative game at the end of the day.Special thanks to our student coaches Ebba, Kali and Lauren for assisting each week.

CISSA Senior Girls Volleyball
After 8 weeks of training, it was time to put all of the hard work into practice in the final volleyball tournament of the season. We travelled to SAS Pudong and played 6 games for the day. The girls began
sluggishly and found it difficult to get into the first game. The serves weren’t going in, there was no calling of the ball and minimal movement.

Each game the girls gained a little more confidence and improved their game play with some very close results.By the last game the girls were getting serves in, calling the ball and moving well around the court which resulted in our only win for the day.Loeke and Milly were selected to play in the rep games and won both.Congratulations to all the girls for a great learning season! CISSA Boys Volleyball3월 15일에 SCIS 홍치아에서 CISSA Senior Boys 배구팀 상하이 지역이 학교팀들가 경기를 하였습니다. 각각 8,9 명으로 이루어진 두팀이 경기를 하였습니다. 이번 경기는 긴 시즌동안 갈고 닦은 기량을 발휘해 볼 수있는 마지막 토너먼트였습니다.
두 팀 모두 계속 발전하였고 이 경기를 통해 많은 것을 배웠습니다. 두 팀 모두 그들의 마지막 게임을, 훌륭한 팀웤과 발전된 기술, 또 스포츠맨 정신을 보여주면서 이겼습니다. 연습과 시합 내내 훌륭한 노력과 멋진 경기 자세를 보여주 선수들에게 감사드립니다.

As part our inquiry into how we organise ourselves, Grade 4 students organised a Maker Faire. By voting they created a committee that booked the facilities and large equipment like tables and chairs. Students decided on a personal project, something they wanted to make. Some students worked alone and others cooperated as part of a team. They constantly needed to consider their organisational skills, preparing equipment, designing an advertising campaign. Some groups needed to research before they could start making, while others used trail and error. It was challenging at times, especially finding
the right materials and t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g t h e problems. The final Faire was a chance for grade 4 to show their products and their process. They hope to inspire you to join the maker movement too.

다. 아름다운 추억을 만들어 주신 모든 분들께 감사드리니다.
*매주 화요일 2시부터 3시까지 센터 로비 새로운 기념품 판매대에서 PTA기념품을 판매하고 있습니다.
*매주 금요일, 교실로의 배달 주문이 가능합니다.입학처로 가는 복도 입구의 주문서를 작성하시어, 목요일 오전 10시까지 수납창구에 수납하시면, 금요일에 학생에게 직접 배달해 드립니다.
✴저희는 학교 후드티의 여분을 보유하고 있습니다. 가격은 250RMB이고, 매주 화요일 2-3시 사이에 오셔서 입어 보시고 맞는 싸이즈 구입을 하실 수 있습니다.
