Know our President 2016-17
Biren Kumar Mallick graduated in Civil Engineering in 1964 from Jadavpur University and obtained his Masters degree in Structural Engineering from Bradford University, England in1970.
He is a Fellow Member of the Institution of Engineers (India), also a Member of the
Institution of Structural Engineers (London) and Chartered Engineer from Engineering Council of UK.
Mr. Mallick has over 50 years of professional experience in the consulting practices including project management, contract administration and construction management in India, England, Iraq and in Kuwait. He advises as Consultant on project management on civil/structural engineering projects in India and abroad. After graduation he started his professional career with Braithwaite Burn and Jessop (BBJ) Construction Co. of Calcutta and then switched to the consulting practices with White Young and Partners in England, Development Consultants (DCPL) of Calcutta in India and Iraq and finally with Industrial Engineering and Consulting Office and Hill International of USA in Kuwait. Professionally he was actively involved in various technical seminars on design, construction including claim settlement, value engineering and technical audit over the years.
During his stay in Kuwait, Mr. Mallick formed the Kuwait Chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India) and was its Founder Chairman. He also formed the Kuwait Chapter of the Alumni Association of NCE Bengal and Jadavpur University and was its Founder President also. Also he was the President of the Bengali Cultural Society, Kuwait and was involved in its affairs since 1983 - participated in various cultural activities including drama and recitation. After his return from Kuwait in 2010, Mr. Mallick is attached with the Alumni Association, Jadavpur University and for last few years he heads the Student Assistance and Award sub-committee and is engaged in selecting needy students for financial assistance.
Married to wife Arati, a former Geography teacher is a passionate reader and practiced Rabindra Sangeeth, and are blessed with 2 daughters. Elder daughter, Sanyukta is an Architect and younger Sumana, Economist and Investment Banker with Morgan Stanley. Subroto and Mohan, two son-in-laws are with the Banking sectors. Grandson, Ishaan, (Sanyukta's son) and granddaughter, Tanya (Sumana's daughter) keep everybody busy and are darlings of all.
Mr. Mallick joined the Rotary Club of Calcutta South City Towers during its inception in 2013 and served as Vice President, Chairman Service projects and Chairman Public Relation.

Our Secretary 2016-17
Born on September 30, 1957 at Kanpur, U.P. in a Punjabi Business Family.
Did his early schooling in Kanpur and went at an early age of 9 years in the year 1966 in Class 3 to a Boarding School, namely SHERWOOD COLLEGE, NAINITAL and
completed his ISC i.e. Class 11 in the year 1974.
Did his Intermediate i.e. Class 12 from Christ Church College, Kanpur for one year and then went on to do my Bachelors in Engineering in the year 1977 from R.V.College of Engineering, Bangalore in the stream of Electronics and graduated in 1982.
Joined the family business in 1983 and was in business in the field of Agricultural Products like Centrifugal Pumps, Submersible Pumps, Diesel Generators, Electrical Products and were the Distributors / Dealers for companies namely KSB Pumps, Varuna Pumps, Siemens Ltd. and many more.
Got married to Anshu, in the year 1985 and was blessed with a loving charming daughter Atika in the year 1987 and then later in 1991 was blessed with a smart handsome son Arsh.
Moved out of the family business in the year 2007 and joined a Kolkata based company and was posted in Latehar, Jharkhand for two years to overall manage the project of Rural Electrification under the central government's scheme of “Rajiv Gandhi Vidhut Yojana”.
Moved on to another Kolkata based company in 2009 and was posted in Ahmedabad for two years to look after the whole of Gujarat and undertake the company's work in the field of construction of Telecom Towers used for the mobile network.
In 2011, joined hands in business with his cousin brother and they are now mainly into investments in stocks, mutual funds, investment in property and also run a travelling agency.
Joined the Jayees Club, an Individual Development Organization in the year 1983 and was a member till 1997. Held the post of Secretary in the year 1988.
Joined as Charter member Rotary Club of Kanpur Greater in 1999 and was the Charter secretary. Became the President of Rotary Club Greater in 2003.
Joined as Charter member Rotary Club of Calcutta South City Towers. Was Director – Vocational Services in 2014-15, Sergeant-at-Arms in 2015-16 and now the Secretary for 2016-17.
He is an ardent sports lover and represented the School and College team in Cricket, Football and Hockey.
He is also fond of Horse Riding, Skating, Badminton and Swimming.

Dear Friends, At the outset I am very happy as a Charter President, that our club has successfully completed 3 years, and entering 4th year. Fourt year began well in advance with a wonderful and emerging Rotary International
Leader Rtn.PDG.Kamal Sanghvi as our Chief Guest for our 4th Installation Ceremony and Charter day Celebrations. Our PDG's Rtn.Rajani Mukherji and Rtn.Angshuman Gangopadhyay were also present amongst us, along with Rtn.Ballari Mukherjee, our GSR Rtn.Bimal Pal, our Charter year AG Rtn.Timir Roy, our Hon.Rtn.Jag Mohan IPS, apart from all other Guests, Rotarians of other clubs, Rotarians of our club, Anns, Annets, Rotaractors & Interactors.
Rtn.PDG Kamal Sanghvi emphasized the importance of serving and giving with illustrative examples. I look forward Rtn.Biren Kumar Mallik and Rtn.Alok Berry to take our club to greater Heights and wish them all the best.
