The aim of the workshops was to encourage embracing the importance of art in positive mental health. We had Ms. Kejal Bakshi, Ms. Padma Anil Kumar and Ms. Preenu Ashok as guest speakers to inspire the audience with their insights. We had enthusiastic participation from several colleges. The Workshop garnered lot of appreciation and for the way it was organized, the enthusiasm with which it was conducted and the seamless work done by everyone involved.

The Psychology Department organized ‘Enliven,’ a Workshop Day with

The Department organized a guest lecture by

Ms. Aruna, Assistant Professor. It was con-

ducted for the third year students. The talk

focused on different qualitative research meth-

ods and the importance of them.

P L A C E M E N T

SHRISTI - The annual intercollegiate event for the School of Science took place on 17th

August, 2019. The Department of Psychology witnessed active participation from several

colleges. Competitions such as Faceoff (Block and Tackle), Oodle Doodle (Doodle) and

Quizophrenia (Quiz) were conducted on topics based on psychology. The students were

actively involved in organizing and conducting the events.

ATHULYA’ 19 - Athulya, the exhibition for school students to encourage awareness about

different fields and career options, took place on 19th October, 2019. The students of the

Department of Psychology presented charts and models on the scope of psychology and the

concept of illusion. Several school students were intrigued by the different illusions. They

also gained information about the various careers available in the field.

TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS - 27 students completed a Value-Added Course based on

Transactional Analysis. The course was enriching and informative, giving students a glimpse

of the practical side of therapy.

Movie Screening - A movie ‘Inside Out’ was screened for the students of all three years. The movie

spoke of the importance of all emotions in one’s life. This was linked to how as a therapist can help cli-

ents understand and respond to different emotions.

Exam Anxiety Sessions - Ms. Jeevitha, Student Counselor conducted a 7 day session on dealing with

exam anxiety for students from various departments.

PTA Awareness Program: An awareness program was initiated

with an aim to educate parents and students on “The Impact of

Words in Parenting” by Ms. Jeevitha, Student Counselor, on PTA

Meeting on 19th October, 2019.

The students from Department of Psychology took part in a stage

performance titled ‘Kudumba Vilakku’ in ‘Naatiya Nadaga Vizha.’

The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Art and Culture selected the college

for the performance in order to build awareness and embrace

Tamil culture. The event took place on 4th September, 2019.

Internship has been a part of overall development of students. Students take up internships

optionally during their summer and winter holidays. They take up positions as observers,

case analysts and involve in counselling and history taking during their tenure in hospitals,

clinics, old age homes, child care centers, special schools etc.
