WELCOME NEW MEMBERS

The 2013 film, The Book Thief, is a World War II drama directed by Brian Percival and starring Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson and Sophie Nélisse. The film is based on the 2005 novel of the same name by Markus Zusak. The story is about a young girl living with her adoptive German family during the Nazi era. Taught to read by her kind-hearted foster father, the girl begins “borrow-ing” books and sharing them with the Jewish refugee being sheltered by her foster parents in their home.

Ladies of Vitalia Hadassah Chap-ter’s quarterly book club luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, January 23, 2019. The selected book is The Two-Family House by Lynda Cohen Loigman. This novel is a family saga set in post-war Brooklyn. It focuses on two families related by blood and marriage who share a two-family brownstone. During a blizzard (without their husbands at home), two babies are born min-utes apart and the women decide to swap the babies, thus changing their lives forever. An impenetrable bond was forged before and during that dramatic night; but as the years progress, small cracks start to ap-pear and their once deep friendship begins to unravel. This is a moving family saga filled with heart, emo-tion, longing, love and mystery. Details about the lunch venue will be announced soon. For details about the club, please contact Renee Katz at 772-345-2644 or [email protected].
