    GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH(Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod)

    LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSASAugust 17, 2014

THE TENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOSTPRAYER UPON ENTERING CHURCH

O God of mercy and compassion, You have given me faith to trust Your promises madecertain in Your So n, Jesus Christ. By Your Holy Spirits power increase my faith to trust You alonefor mercy and peace. Help me persevere despite those things in my life that would cause me to giveup or doubt that You will provide for me in body and soul. Give me resolve to meet the challenges tomy faith looking to the cross and empty tomb for forgiveness and life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

WELCOMEWelcome to Grace! We are thankful that you are here this morning and we especially wish

to welcome those who are visiting with us this morning. In this time the Lord comes to us giving usHis gifts of forgiveness and life through Word and Sacrament. It is our hope that, wherever you are in

your faith, just beginning to know Jesus, continually struggling to believe in Him or bold and steadfastin your confession of His name, we pray that Gods Word shared her e this morning will strengthenyou and keep you steadfast in the faith that Jesus is Lord and Savior. If you are not a member ofGrace and wish to learn more abou t our teachings as drawn from Gods Word please speak with ourPastor. We are glad you are here and we invite you to come and worship with us again.

We ask that everyone fill out an attendance registration card found at each pew and return itto an Usher as the Offering is collected. Children are welcome in our Service and will be invited to

come forward for a Childrens Message. Parents may accompany them. Restrooms are located on thelower level of this building or across the bridge on this floor level before entering the fellowship hall.A nursery for infants and toddlers is located downstairs for anyone who has need.

HOLY COMMUNIONHoly Communion will be celebrated in the 10:45 Service today. In this sacrament we receive

Christs very body an d blood for the forgiveness of sins. Those who are not members of Grace areasked to speak with our Pastor before partaking of this sacrament so that the unity of faith might beestablished. Thank you for honoring this request.

AS WE GATHER Gods mercy and compassion are for all people. From the prophet Isaiah we hear that the

Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, I will gather yet others to Him besides thosealready gathered. (Isaiah 56:8) St. Paul boldly declares that God has n ot rejected His people whomHe foreknew, but desires that they receive mercy through the Church. (Romans 11:2) Jesus, who

makes clear that His mission was first to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, marvels at the faith ofone who was doubly an outs ider, a Canaanite and a woman! She persistently sought the Lords mercyfor her and her daughter stricken by demon possession, confident that Jesus was Lord and that eventhe crumbs that fell from the masters table were sufficient for them. So too Gods grace is trulysufficient for us as His power is made perfect in our weakness.

    LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF

The Women of Grace are collecting supplies to make School Kits for Lutheran WorldRelief . To the children who receive School Kits, these supplies mean the difference

centimeters on one side and inches on the other One pencil sharpener One blunt scissors (safety scissors with embedded steel blades work well)

Five unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers; secure together with a rubber band Five black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink); secure together with a rubber band One box of 16 or 24 crayons One 2 eraser Backpack

Our goal is 75 School Kits. Items may be brought to the church and placed in thecontainer marked School Kits .
