The Lazarus Ministry will hold a memorial Mass on Wednesday, August 26 at10:00am in the 2 nd Floor Church for Ms. Laurie Fink. Laurie was homeless as the time of her death and she was a frequent visitor to St. Anthony Shrine. Please consider joining us for this memorial. All are welcome. Peace be with you, This week has been a busy one at St. Anthony Shrine & Ministry Center. We saw hundreds of people in our Food Center, as we do every week, but we also held a Kids Program backpack distribution in the Center. The Kids Program distribution happens quarterly, with each distribution reflecting the season. In August, we work to help our families prepare their children for going back to school. Each registered child received a new backpack filled with school supplies. Almost 200 children will return to school prepared with all of the supplies they need. This impact could not have happened without the generous donations of time and money from many. Our Christmas in July fundraiser reflected how giving our community is. And donations of time and money to the Kids program gives much more than school supplies. It brings peace of mind to tired and struggling parents and guardians. It brings excitement and stability to children. It paves a pathway of opportunity and success in education. Most simply, but most importantly, it restores dignity to our sisters and brothers. All of us at the Shrine are grateful for the many ways we, the staff, friars, and volunteers, partner with all of you to bring the love and care of Jesus into our community. This week, that love took shape in a backpack distribution. Next week, it will take a new form. Have a blessed week, Fr. Thomas Conway, OFM Executive Director Saturday, August 15 th - Friday, August 21 st New Grief Group Br. Paul O’Keeffe, OFM, will begin a new grief group.
