From the Wise Master
August!! What happend to July? Have you noticed how fast time seems to go by when it’s summer time and you are supposed to find time to just relax and do what you want. Between the 20 Year Celebration, the Fishing Derby and now the Dinner Auction; the next thing you know the kids will be back in school, Thanksgiving, Christmas. Oh my, the year will be gone!
Let’s not think so far ahead. Lets go back to August 11, 2012; 5:00 PM, our 20th Annual Dinner Auction at the
International Catering Copany. Our major fund raiser for the Scottish Rite Childhood Language Disorders Center. If you are unable to join us at the Dinner , I hope you can help any way you can. If not for the Dinner Auction, but all through the year.
You can support the Center through individual donations, Legacy POrogram or with Memorials. Many of our members sup-port the Center in these ways. You can see them in the back of this Bulletin. Call the office and we will tell you how.
Jim Wilson Venerable Master
By the time this bulletin is dis-tributed the large part of summer will be over. I hope you all have made your reservations for the Language Center Dinner Auction on August 11. This is the most important fund raising event of the year. Please try to contribute in any way you can: at-tend the dinner, bid on the silent and live auction items, purchase hours for the clinic and have a great time. This month’s stated meeting will be

in Merced and the officers of the Chapter of Rose Croix will ad-vance to their new positions at that meeting, please try to be there. Then in a blink of the eye, it will be September and our normal meetings return to our Fresno Lodge. We will be organiz-ing our Fall Class for membership. Yes there is always something to do that we need your help, we never have enough manpower. Please set aside the time, money and interest for your Scottish Rite Lodge this year. DO IT NOW!

Brethren In last month’s message I talked
about the members who wear the red cap. This month I would like to talk about the members wearing the white cap of the 33rd degree or Inspector Gen-eral Honorary. These candidates are selected from the ranks of the Knight Commander of the Court of Honor af-ter a minimum waiting period of forty-six months (but usually much longer) in the same manner as for the KCCH. The criterion for this honor is outstand-
ing service to the Scottish Rite or the Community. Only 1.5 ° of our members will ever receive this honor. In 2011 our valley was allowed only two members to be elevated to this degree. Remem-ber the Supreme Council meets only every two years to consider candidates for the KCCH and the Inspector General Honorary. The thirty-three governing members of the Supreme Council are selected from the ranks of the Inspector General Honorary.
The ring of this degree is a triple band of gold with a triangu-lar plate on it enclosing the number 33. The jewel that accompa-nies this degree is suspended from a white ribbon. Because the jewel is so detailed, I will defer to Brother Jim Tresner, author of the definitive book on Scottish Rite regalia, Vested in Glory.
“The basis of the jewel is a Teutonic Cross. On that is a nine-

pointed star, composed of three gold triangles, interlaced. The design also forms nine small triangles, and in each of these is one of the letters … ‘S.A.P.I.E.N.T.I.A.,’ the Latin word for wis-dom. A sword extends from the lower part of the left side of the jewel to the upper part of the right side. Crossing that is … a ‘Hand of Justice.’ This forms a scepter, terminating in a carving of a hand…. On top of the cross, triangles, crossed sword, and Hand of Justice is a circular plate, and on the plate is a shield with a crowned double-headed eagle. To the right of the eagle is a balance and to the left is a Square and Compasses. Around the design are the Latin words Ordo ab Chao, Order out of Chaos, enclosed by two serpents, each biting its tail.”
As with the wearer of the red cap of the KCCH, the white cap, Inspector General Honorary criterion is that of service. At the next dinner look at the brother serving you your dinner or desert it is very likely, he will be wearing a white cap. The honor of the 33rd degree does not stop these brothers from being too proud to provide that service to the rest of us.
Bill Pfister 32º KCCH Commander of the Council of Kadosh
Our fundraising event of summer is here and we have about half the do-nations we had last year. This fund-raiser has provided 50% of the annual funds needed for the Children’s Lan-guage Disorders Center. Please help by getting the information out to the community. We need items donated for the live and silent auction (or) you can give a cash donation so items can be purchased.
Our Children’s Language Disor-ders Center is consistently providing quality service to the chil-dren of our community. We need 1,000 hours of donations in ad-dition to our fundraising efforts to maintain our current level of

treatment for the children. Every $50 donated to the Clinic di-rectly affects a child’s future. Please help as much as you can and don’t be afraid to ask your friends and family for a tax-deductible donation.
Plan ahead for our fall fundraising event – 2nd Annual Bicy-cle Ride on September 29th. Corporate/Individual Sponsorships available for $250. We have an easy 2 mile kid/family ride, a 10 mile & 20 mile ride for the novice/intermediate athletes, and then the metric century ride (62 miles) for the elite athletes. You can register online at - www.wepay.com/cldc2012 or contact Alan Burnham for more information at 559.841.8743.
In closing, I am truly grateful and extremely thankful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children within our community. I am proud to be a Scottish Rite Mason, knowing my efforts help make the world (and myself) better, one child at a time.

MEMBERSHIP
The life blood of any organization is it’s membership. Mi-chael Lewis, 32° KCCH, Chairman of our Membership Com-mittee along with his committee men have on many occasions visited the local lodges and have been successful in inviting the brethren to join Scottish Rite. We have endeavored to invite each new Master Mason to be our guest at one of our Stated Dinner Meetings and several have attended. Letters have been written to approximately 45 new Master Masons inviting them to join Scottish Rite. Our next Class will be held on the first three Sat-urdays in November - the 3, 10 and 17. If you know of a Master Masons who are not a member of Scottish Rite please ask them to join. Then let me know and I will get a personal letter out to them post haste. A schedule of our November Fall Class is in-cluded in this bulletin.

REGIONAL ORIENT MEMBERSHIP AMBASSADOR’S MESSAGE - AUGUST 2012
Freemasonry is said to be a “peculiar system of morality”. It does not profess to teach mere human morality because all human morality is of itself imperfect. Instead the morality of Freemasonry is founded on the Di-vine law of the Great Architect of the Universe and is designed to make good men better. This betterment is achieved by an ongoing process of refinement.
The basis of Freemasonry is the work ethic and it is by fruitful deeds that Freemasons should be recognized as such. However, these deeds should not be solely confined to Masonic endeavors, but rather demonstrated through-out one’s daily life, so that the wider world in which we live may be made better as a result.
Therefore, it is incumbent upon each of us to find worthy candidates who may be made even better by initiation into the practices of both the Blue Lodge and the Scottish Rite. Let each of us pledge to bring in at least one worthy and well-qualified member this year. Have you found your can-didate yet?
