FORTHCOMING EVENTS Monday 8th September GST Meeting 7.30pm All Welcome Tuesday 9th September Kite Flying at Totara Park (please note change of date) Wednesday 10th November Inter-school Mathex, Y5-8, held at Manurewa Intermediate **** Alfriston College, Out- of-zone applications close Friday 12th September Whole School Assembly 2pm, School Hall run by the School Council ISSUE NO. 28 DATE: 8 September, 2014 HELLO FROM THE PRINCIPAL! Dear Parents/Caregivers, Please note that our Kite flying day is tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1.30pm at Totara Park - rescheduled from last week due to the weather. We are looking forward to getting all the amazing kite creations off the ground! If you are able to, please join us at Totara Park from 1.30pm to see our kites in action. We will be walking down to Totara Park, leaving school shortly after 1.00pm and will be back here for our usual end of the day. For the last two weeks, at Monday morning assembly, we have brought all the lost property from out school basket and tried to find owners. There are at least 10 school jackets in various sizes, with no names or identifying features, as well as sports gear, undershirts - and some very new looking items! This uniform MUST have owners, but if they are not collected by the end of term, we will be on-selling them. We also asked the assembly which kids had lost clothing items this year, but the four hands that went up did not numerically match the great pile of gear we had sitting at the front! Please name your children’s uniform, or take advantage of our embroidery service and we will return lost items to their owner. Our Cultural Day last Thursday was a huge success. Thank you to all the families who supported this by making food, helping their children dress in cultural costumes and supporting classroom activities! Dear Parents/Caregivers,

GENERAL NOTICES:

UNIFORM EMBROIDERY:Our machine is up and running and we have started naming uniform items. We are currently naming PE Gear and the black polar-fleece jacket. Cost is $1 per 3 letters/symbols, per item of clothing. This is a fantastic way to keep track of your child’s uniform and we are keeping a record of which combination of letters/symbols belong to each child, meaning uniform can still be handed down to a sibling or another student once it is outgrown.

Slips are available from the school office, please complete these and return with payment - we will call for your child’s uniform when it is needed.

Thank You to Melissa Sutherland who has given her time to embroider uniforms, we appreciate your help!
