HELLO FROM THE PRINCIPAL!

Dear  Parents/Caregivers,

Welcome  back  to  Term  4!    This  week  we  kicked  off  our  Travelwise  “Wheel  and  Walk”  iniAaAve.    This  programme  is  designed  to  reduce  congesAon  around  the  entry  points  to  our  school.    Our  first,  and  currently  only,  staAon,  is  set  up  at  the  Wairere  Road  roundabout.    On  Monday,  we  had  a  dozen  kids  collect  their  Ackets  at  the  start  point,  today,  that  number  was  over  70!    Thanks  to  all  the  parents  who  are  geLng  behind  this  health-‐promoAng,  traffic-‐reducing,  fun-‐enhancing  programme.    We  hope  to  conAnue  to  see  an  increase  in  the  number  of  students  wheeling  or  walking  from  this  staAon.    We  encourage  you  to  get  involved  and  there  are  some  exciAng  prizes  that  can  be  won.    Thanks  to  Mrs  Pearson  for  her  organisaAon  and  Auckland  Transport  for  their  support.    See  the  photo  page  in  this  bulleAn  for  pictures  from  the  Wheel  and  Walk  staAon  and  also  some  photos  of  our  cool  ramps  in  acAon  at  school  today  (remember,  kids  who  walk/wheel  at  least  3  days  out  of  5,  can  use  their  wheels  at  school,  during  break  ;mes  on  Friday!)

You  will  also  see  in  this  newsleTer  a  link  to  the  Give  a  LiTle  page,  to  support  our  staff  who  are  shaving  their  heads/beards  at  a  special  “Shave  Assembly”  to  be  held  at  TGS  on  Friday  21st  November.    This  is  a  very  worthy  cause  as  currently  we  have  a  number  of  staff  members  affected  by  cancer  and  we  hope  you  will  support  us  and  spread  the  word  to  all  your  friends  and  family.    Every  donaAon,  big  or  small,  is  very  much  appreciated  and  will  help  to  support  research  and  the  needs  of  Cancer  sufferers!SUSANNAH FOWLER, PRINCIPAL
