They bore their trials with patience because they were able to see that God knows what they are going through. And if God has this knowledge, surely He is able to find great merits in the saints' suffering. We can complain about what others are doing to us. "Someone is doing this to hurt me" we can state that as a matter of fact. Perhaps it may be so. But if we can do nothing to alleviate this form of subtle pain, then we can offer our pains to God. This is how we can transform our sufferings. During this period of time, we offer it to God and say: "Lord, I know you understand my situation but I would like to offer it as a love offering so that I may have a share in Christ's suffering". The Lord loves a cheerful giver. Although we can still carry the pain within our hearts, we can gradually accept it over time, and complain less. People around us may not even notice that we are suffering interiorly. We give to the Lord our inner pains and outwardly we find a joy that radiates from our bearing. The saints experienced this and they are able to find spiritual profit in this manner. Finally, through this offering, we can ask God to hear our prayers. God will take notice of our prayers because with it comes an inner cry that speaks volumes. God pays attention to the person who prays and who has given a love offering in the form of his or her sufferings. REV FR PAUL YEO EVANGELII GAUDIUM The Joy of the Gospel - Pope Francis - #29 Each par(cular Church, as a por(on of the Catholic Church under the leadership of its bishop, is likewise called to missionary conversion. It is the primary subject of evangeliza(on,30 since it is the concrete manifesta(on of the one Church in one specific place, and in it “the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church of Christ is truly present and opera(ve”. It is the Church incarnate in a certain place, equipped with all the means of salva(on bestowed by Christ, but with local features.

27    JULY  2014   17TH  SUNDAY  ORDINARY  TIME

To be a Christ-centred family that loves and serves one another with joy and humility

Offering Up Our Difficulties It is a well-known fact that many saints while they were on earth, were able to see their sufferings as an advantage.
