Banksia 6 & Wattle 5 Buddy Bugs
This term Banksia 6 and Wattle 5 have been collaborating to build a range of bugs made from recycled materials. Our task was to invent an imaginary bug, then design and create the bug together with our buddies. When we had finished, we reviewed and appraised our creations. Here are some comments about our bug making process:
During Term 2 we made bugs with our buddies. Our bug is called Lizoctid. We really enjoyed making the antennas by twirling pipe cleaners. We really like our bug and think it is very good. Ben, Ain and Dominiqua
Anabelle and Leona made a bug called “A Lovely Lady”. It is a lady bug with love hearts instead of dots and has a big pink tail and six legs. We also have red eyes and it‟s covered in glitter. And overall we had fun.
Our bug is called „Mixed Up Butterfly‟. We like our bug because it is very colourful. We enjoyed the time we spent making our bug. Kelly, Alice and Yuri
Tom is fun, generous and exciting, we enjoyed playing around and testing new things. I think we could have improved by putting more colour on it. Tom, Kai and Tony

B6 Assembly Item
Well done to our B6 students for last Friday’s assembly item - it was certainly a
performance with more “twists and turns” than an Agatha Christie novel. It was a
modernised version of Cinderella. It did not have the pumpkin, the golden carriage and
the mice etc. However, there was an unexpected visit by “Darth Vader”. The plot of this
item was not easy to predict - but all the same entertaining. Thank you to Mr Tisdale, Ms
Sumastra and Mrs Reid for assisting the children with their performance.
Semester One Reports
Semester one reports will be sent home on Thursday 2nd July. If anyone wishes to have an
interview with their child’s teacher regarding progress please arrange this with the teacher,
through the school office or myself.
Mr Dancer Retires!
Mr Eric Dancer took the remainder of his Long Service Leave and retired on Friday 19th June.
Mr Dancer has very capably and conscientiously taught at Bull Creek Primary School for the
past twenty three years. Mr Dancer will attend our Assembly on Friday 3rd July. He will join
the staff at our normal morning tea time and we will have a brief farewell function. Mr Dancer,
thank you and well done!
Lost Property Galore
Yesterday we located several tracksuit tops, hats etc from our Lost Property Baskets - these had names
on - thank goodness! However, there are still 75 lost property items in our Lost Property Baskets. How
can so many articles of clothing be lost? The correct answer is, “Easily, it happens every year!” So
parents, please have a good look through the baskets if you know that some family uniform gear might
be in them.
End of Term 2 - Start of Term 3
The final day of Term 2 is this Friday 3rd July. School for the children commences on Tuesday 21st
July. Monday 20th July will be a School Development Day and children will not attend on this day. On
our school Development Day, our teachers will meet with other teachers from Riverton, Shelley,
Rossmoyne, Oberthur and Bateman Primary Schools to discuss standards and reporting requirements in
the English Learning Area. Our Year 6 teachers will work with Year 7 and 8 teachers at Rossmoyne
Senior High School. Curriculum and reporting requirements change regularly so this will be a good
opportunity to “clarify” various aspects of recent curriculum changes.
Have a Wonderful Holiday
After speaking with several children and parents I know that some families will be going overseas to
visit friends and relations; others to the eastern states; others holidaying within Western Australia; and,
others (like myself) enjoying some time with family and friends in and around
Perth.
To everyone have a restful and pleasant holiday break. Enjoy!!!
