MICRON – SOXAL as Partners
SOXAL, the subsidiary of Air Liquide in Singapore started
Micron Technology is a global leader in the semiconductorindustry. Micron offers the industry’s broadest portfolio ofsilicon-to-semiconductor solutions – such as foundationalDRAM, NAND & NOR Flash memory, SSDs, modules,MCPs, HMCs, and other semiconductor systems.
Air Liquide, world leader in gases, technologies & services for Industry & Health02/10/14 EENP Award3
Soxal has the business relationship with Micron since 1992.Micron is an important customer globally. We work togetheras partners which is the key success factor in this project.
SOXAL, the subsidiary of Air Liquide in Singapore startedoperation in Singapore in 1911, and was integrated intoSOXAL in 1975. Supported by a dedicated and innovativeworkforce of more than 750 employees, SOXAL is theleading industrial gas company in South-East Asia.
Project Background..
SOXAL as a valuable partner studied the whole system
Micron site has multiple Nitrogen generators installedsince 1992, there is an opportunity to optimise andimprove the overall Energy consumption.
Air Liquide, world leader in gases, technologies & services for Industry & Health02/10/14 EENP Award4
It is a win-win solution for customer as it has reduce theoverall energy consumption drastically and meet theirpresent and future operational demands.
SOXAL as a valuable partner studied the whole systemand designed the plant by integrating the existingequipments with new technology.
Project Key features…
Front end purification: Electrically-driven refrigerator unitwhich is used to reduce the air temperature is completely
Two major improvements are featured in this project whichhelped in the overall energy reduction:1. The front end purification (Refrigeration unit)2. The cryogenic distillation (Recycle compressor)
Air Liquide, world leader in gases, technologies & services for Industry & Health02/10/14 EENP Award5
Cryogenic Distillation: Mechanical energy derived from gasexpansion turbine is recovered to run the boostercompression. In the older plants the electricity isconsumed by motor-driven recycle compressor.
which is used to reduce the air temperature is completelyeliminated in new improved design.
The Change...
TCN-BETCN-FLEX
Air Liquide, world leader in gases, technologies & services for Industry & Health
Differences:1. Elimination of Electrical Driven Fridge unit2. Elimination of Electrical Driven Compressor by making use of booster expander
Challenges..
Rigorous Coordination and detailed planning duringcommissioning to keep seamless supply to Micron
Complications involved in the technical Integration ofexisting equipment and new cold box with boosterexpander
