We needed new, modern warehouses: compliant with new standards, consuming less energy and offering more flexibility. Our business demands require that our distribution centres are able to store FMCG, fresh and frozen goods and non-food products, while adapting to changes in our different markets. We entrusted GSE with the complete overhaul of our logistics park after 1½ years of working on this project. HIGH BAY STORAGE: THE MAJOR CHALLENGES
Foundations: The principal challenge concerns the construction of the foundations and making sure the slab is perfectly flat in order to provide good support for structures that are more than 40 meters tall.
Automation: High bay storage requires the installation of an automated rack retrieval system. The main advantages are increased productivity and a smaller number of errors in the order preparation process. In addition, combining high bay storage and automation allows storing a higher volume of goods on a smaller footprint.
Safety: In a high bay distribution centre, products and people are protected by a fire protection system that is more complex than in a traditional warehouse, which requires sophisticated expertise in this area.

For such a large-scale project, the contractors are selected well in advance and generally in a partnership-based relationship rather than in a traditional client/supplier configuration. Choosing a Design and Build Turn-key
Contractor meant delegating the entire responsibility while being guaranteed an on-time delivery. DAHER decided to
work with GSE because of its ability to provide solutions and to optimise the specifications. For a high bay automated
warehouse, the many interfaces between the various construction trades constituting the facility are very important,
and dealing with an experienced Design and Build Turn-key Contractor guarantees best results. This building has enabled
DAHER to automate 80% of its spare parts distribution centre flows. This project was a complete success as GSE was able to respect our very short lead time, and deliver the building in

To achieve the Group’s growth objectives, JYSK could not simply rely on traditional warehouses. The building
footprint, and the distances covered by forklift would have been too high. Therefore GSE has built a high-bay
DC for us in Poland, featuring 2 high-bay facilities that are 43 meters tall each. This system has enabled us to
