The San Diego Community College District’s (SDCCD) construction bond program, funded by voter-approved Proposition S, a $685 million bond passed in 2002, and Proposition N, an $870 million bond passed in 2006, is providing for new, state-of-the-art instructional and career training facilities, major renovations, public safety and accessibility enhancements, parking, and campuswide infrastructure projects at City, Mesa and Miramar Colleges, and six Continuing Education campuses.

Targeted Completion:  May 2012

Arts & Humanities will consist of approx. 70,000sq. ft. to include new classrooms, a lecture hall,computer labs, studio space and a 100‐seat “blackbox theatre.”

Business Technology will consist of approximately40,000 sq. ft. to include “smart” classrooms,computer labs and areas for student start‐upbusinesses. The project also includes sublevelparking.

Project involves land acquisition and construction of new 72,000 sq. ft. classroom and laboratory building. The facility will house the District's Corporate Education Center; four floors of academic classrooms and laboratories for Mathematics, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Nursing Education; and offices for the Military Education program. The project includes a six‐level parking structure with 400+ stalls.

The Science building will consist of approximately 73,000 SF of new construction for the Science department, and will include new classrooms and labs for Life Sciences and Physical Sciences, and a new planetarium.

Project Budget: $28.9 millionCompletion Date:  August 2009

New three‐story, 50,000 square‐foot provides training facilities and classroom space for degree and certificate programs for five healthcare fields: Dental Assisting, Health Information Technology, Medical Assisting, Physical Therapy Assistant and Radiologic Technology. 

The project is currently tracking LEED Gold.

Project Budget: $3.4 million (Part of $34.4 million East Campus Improvement Project)

Completion Date:  July 2009

The 7,000 square‐foot station include a waiting area, offices, conference room, a secure suspect processing area, and a locker room area outfitted with daylight‐harvesting fixtures and waterless and low‐flow plumbing fixtures.  Awarded LEED Gold.

Completion Date:  March 2009

The new 1,100‐space, four‐level parking structure is part of East Campus Improvement Project that also includes a complete road realignment.   Photovoltaic panels will be installed on the top level to harvest solar energy, offsetting the energy needs for the new police station and the new Allied Health building.

Renovation includes new artificial turf, an all‐weather synthetic track, an upper field event area, and ADA‐compliant pedestrian ramp and restroom facilities. The renovation will also include retaining walls, concrete, fencing and utilities for athletic field events.

This 28,000 GSF project involves the renovation of a former elementary school site to become the new home of Mesa’s Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Building Construction and Interior Design programs.

Targeted Completion:  Spring 2012

The new four‐story, 85,000 gross square feet building will include new facilities for student services, including Admissions, Financial Aid, Evaluations and Testing, Counseling, Student Government, Disabled Student Services, and Information and Outreach. The facility will include classrooms, conference areas, a café, and a new express elevator between the lower parking lot and the upper campus.

Joint use project with the City of San Diego. Includes a gymnasium, fitness center, classrooms, dance rooms, lecture rooms, multi‐purpose areas and a concession stand. Third and final phase of a 32‐acre complex that includes an aquatics center and multi‐sport ball fields.  LEED certified.

A new, two‐story, 38,930 SF facility that serves as the Campus of Excellence for Hospitality and Consumer Sciences. It houses classrooms for Culinary Arts, Parenting, Sewing, Arts, Business Information Technology, English as a Second Language, and the Emeritus Program for students aged 55+. It includes a spacious multi‐purpose room that can serve as a classroom space or serve as a venue for performances or special events. Certified LEED Gold.

LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third‐party verification that a building was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most:
