SUMMARYExcel Computer Aided Regulation Engineering („CARE“) software provides graphic tools to create data files and control programs for free programmable CentraLine Controllers. CARE is additionally capable to replace a LON Engineering Tool for LonMark compliant devices.

The actual released firmware versions are: XLWeb II 3.03.05. Excel Web 2.02.17, Linux 2.04.08

We have added the descriptions of firmware features of Excel Web II 3.04.00 (BETA status) for partners who want to support our Application Library and new Modbus or M-Bus features.

Applications and usage scenarios

CARE can be used to program any application with the free programmable Controllers from CentraLine.

CentraLine CARE supports:

For C-Bus System:Panther, Excel 80, Excel 100, Tiger (to be programmed as EXCEL 500), XL500, Excel 600 and LION Controllers.

For BACnet System:Falcon and EAGLE Controllers

FTP port is disabled by default

Email ports are set in the Email alarming tab

Controller Reset is restricted to USB access (Ethernet must be unplugged) Excel Web II 3.03.05

Beginning with firmware 3.03.05, the “Reset Configuration” is only possible via USB and when the LAN Ethernet cable is disconnected.

CARE 10.04.00 assists this new behaviour by “disabling” the “Reset Configuration” for the LAN connection.

Must change default root and xwadmin passwords of old projectsEAGLE/ Excel Web II 3.03.05

When you try to open a old project with default root and xwadmin passwords,CARE will force you to change these passwords:

If you say “no”, the project cannot be opened.

Reason for this behaviour is to force secure passwords.

Graphics download via SFTPExcel Web II 3.04.00 (BETA status)

Secure (SSL) download of graphics via CARE

SFTP communication for CARE & XWOnline (Eliminate RPC) Excel Web 2.02.17, Linux 2.04.08 and CARE 10.04.00

RPC communication between CARE and the controller and between XWOnline and the controller has been eliminated.

SFTP (SSL) is used (RPC is tunnelled over SSL).

Login re-trial protection: After 5 wrong re-tries a timeout of 300 sec starts.

TLS support for Email alarming (=SMTPS/SSL/Port 465) Excel Web 2.02.17, Linux 2.04.08 and CARE 10.04.00

TLS (Transport Layer Security) is supported for Email alarming.

“Comfortable Login” option = unsecure login Excel Web 2.02.17, Linux 2.04.08 and CARE 10.04.00

If the cyber security risk is low and when operated in closed networks,“Comfortable Login” may be selected

You can select the comfortable Login at

o Project level or

o Controller Level

This will provide the following features:

o Drop-down list of web-users

o “Remember me” for user & password

You have to acknowledge the risk:

CARE will be delivered with a CARE LON device library based on the Honeywell Plugins that will be registered with CARE. Newer Plugins need to be reregistered in CARE.After CARE installation the Plugin registration needs to be upgraded according to the installed Plugins.

CARE 10.04.00 supports the import for most of the 3rd party XIF-files for LonMark devices. On device commissioning CARE compares XIF-file and the application in the (3rd party) device. If the two files don’t fit to each other, CARE issues with a warning or will refuse to do the commissioning. On LNS synchronization this comparison will be done in the same way.

If CARE is prompting a warning, CARE continues with commissioning / synchronization. When an error is prompted the commissioning / synchronization will aborted.

On remote (via RSS) LNS synchronization CARE checks the installed LNS version on the CARE- and LNS Server PC. If the versions are not equal a message will be displayed. The check options can be disabled via the global options in CARE.

In order to create a LNS database for EBI and because of a major LNS error it is mandatory to install a new LNS Turbo Service Pack.

Problem Workaround

The number of switching tables that write to the same analog datapoint must not exceed 20. Otherwise parameter import fails.

Do not create more than 20 switching tables per point.

The RACL Editor will not start if XL 1.3 Controller is selected in CARE.

Don’t use this RACL Editor for this old Controller Versions. For 1.3 Controllers the old RACL Editor is necessary.

The Datapoint Editor hangs if the grid should be shown Wrong settings in Country settings. For example the decimal separator is missing for numbers or currency

If CARE is installed from a user with its own account on a PC other users of this PC are not able to work with CARE with their login.

The Care user needs to be "power user" to properly use Care especially for the grid settings. If this is not the case the PC administrator has to change the access level for the user.

VA/VD point is not seen in other plants. When deleting path to older Care version from autoexec.bat Problem is fixed.

? * Tab(\t) " / \ : < > blanks will be replaced by a “_” since CARE 5.00.00

There exist no workaround. To be compatible with EBI and LON those characters are not more allowed

CARE project cannot be imported due to missing elements in CARE database

Before upgrading to new CARE version it is important to take a backup (export) of elementary libraries of the original CARE version.

If Windows OS language of the Tools PC is different to the language OS of the machine where EBI is running characters can be corrupted

Use same operating system for EBI then for CARE

Falcon controllers with version XLWebExe 1.03.00 and older are not supported anymore.

Upgrade to the latest Falcon firmware.

Laptop Dell E6410 crashes with blue screen during working in CARE in the area of the control loops.

This is related to a Graphic driver Intel Version 6.14.10.5225. Honeywell IT department is informed. The images will be changed. The Graphic driver 6.14.10.5322.A05 from Dell Website solves this problem.

CARE can only run once on one pc. Also it is not possible to run CARE twice in two windows accounts.

No workaround possible. Behaviour as in the past

Not possible to drag and drop license onto Codemeter license stick

Previously installed version of Codemeter runtime library does not match Codemeter runtime library installed by Care. As a work-around update the Codemeter runtime library

Access to License Server from Care does not work within Honeywell network

Start web browser and access any internet site (in order to activate proxy server access)
