Love In Action continues to be a vital and mean-ingful ministry feeding and offering prayer and fellowship to 50-60 people each week. A couple of our cooks have indicated they will be stepping down, and we find ourselves at a critical juncture. We will have to find one or two persons who

can be trained and agree to be the lead cook for one week each month, or we will be in jeopardy of hav-ing to curtail this weekly ministry. If you are inter-ested in learning more about how you can plug in to this ministry please contact the church office and you will be put in contact with the right persons. We want to welcome our newest church member and volunteer to LIA, Gary Bryant. Gary has volun-teered to serve as a cook on Thursday nights. There are other ways to serve as well. You can be an assistant to those who cook, be a server on Thurs-day nights, or volunteer to bake homemade desserts. LIA is a great introductory way to start serving God and others through the church.

Spring is in the air, and with the change of the sea-son there are so many changes that happen within our youth group. Our seniors are preparing to transi-tion out and our 6th-graders are preparing to transi-tion in. While the newness is exciting, the change can often be difficult. Thank you to EVERY person who helped prepare the food, helped with decorations, or attended our St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Show. It was a great night of music, great food, and fellowship. Joe Lam-bert, Dell Harris, and Dave Harper as well as four guest musicians (Joe Lambert’s Entourage) filled our Family Life Center with an amazing concert. All do-nations and ticket sales went toward our Alaska trip this summer. Our youth spent the weekend of March 22-24 to-gether at Camp Loucon for our ENGAGE retreat cen-tered around Braving the Wilderness using Isaiah 43:1. It was a great weekend of beautiful weather,

fun, and strengthening of the bonds between our kids. Six of our seniors were able to attend and en-joy their last ever spring retreat with our TRIBE. As exciting as it is for them to begin their new chap-ters in life, our youth group is losing some amazing spiritual and influential leaders. The weekend was a great way to spend some last time together making memories. THANK YOU to everyone who donated shoes for Soles for Souls. We collected 559 pair and exceeded our goal of 500 pairs. We will be delivering these to Nashville over Spring Break and are excited for the lives that will be touched by them. On Easter Sunday, April 21, the youth will lead a SonRise Service followed by a donation-based break-fast in the Family Life Center. Please plan to join us. More details to come. Senior Sunday is scheduled for May 12 during both services. Please join us in celebrating our seniors and their accomplishments on this day! As always, we are blessed and humbled by the support of our church. Thank you to Chris Wilson and Denise Corley who have been leading the high school Sunday School class. If you would like to vol-unteer for a one-month service time, please see me.

Because of you, Jesus, I have hope… † I have hope for life after death, † I have hope for something greater than this world has to offer † I have hope that I can face the day because you are always with meBecause of you, Jesus, I have peace… † I have peace when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death † I have peace when storms come † I have peace in times of tribulation Because of you, Jesus, I have experienced love… † I have experienced love that endures all things † I have experienced love that is patient and kind † I have experienced love that never leaves me nor forsakes me.

You endured the cross that I might have hope for life after death, a peace that surpasses all un-derstanding and so that nothing in this world may separate me from your love. I praise you. I bow down and worship you. I love you Jesus. Because of you every day is Easter for all of us.

Hallelujah! Amen

Thank you so much for the sacrifices made by so many to bless others in a time of need. If you donated, attended, prayed, organized, cooked, purchased, posed, painted, or gave in any form or fashion to support the mission trip to Port St. Joe, we thank you! Please keep the adult team in prayer as we represent discipleship to people hurting from loss. Always keep the heart of giving flowing be-cause that is what changes the lives and hearts of many. My prayer is that this extraordinary group of believers will once again invest in the ministry of our youth and send them off to Alaska with an abundance of prayers and funds to bless others. May God continue to lead and guide our church family as we strive daily to be obedient to His mission!

COMMUNION OFFERING for APRILBed Net Ministry – Reid & Lola Buchanan

Our Communion Offering for April will support the Rev. Reid and Lola Buchanan of the Mission Society. Through their Bed Net Ministry, a part of the holistic approach of Community Health Evan-gelism (CHE), the Buchanans work to eradicate malaria by furnishing insecticide-treated bed

nets and educating about their use. As always, communion offerings may be made any time during the month, not just on Commun-ion Sunday. To contribute to the Bed Net Ministry, simply specify “Bed Nets” on your memo line or envelope.

For even the son of man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.

On Sunday, May 12, Brandenburg United Meth-odist Church will celebrate our students who are graduating from high school. The students already slated to participate are Caitlyn Calarco, Zach Carter, Abby Nelson, Zack Hedrick, Nathan Wil-son, Matthew Wilson, Whitley Wardrip, and Reece McElfresh. If there are other students who would like to participate in Senior Sunday, they are asked to call the church office at 270-422-2810 or Kelly Wilson at 270-668-7256 by Sunday, April 14.

The Heart of the Matter A Meditation on Forgiveness

Among my many failings is the inability (unwilling-ness) to forgive. Time and again, I drink that poison of unforgiving and harm only myself. Several months ago, a text message exchange with a dear friend hurt me deeply. It’s over now, and our friendship, although scarred, remains intact. Yet I held onto that thread, occasionally re-reading it, poking at that hurt place to see if it still hurt. It did. Several times I considered deleting it, but I kept it, opting instead to drink a few more sips of poison, poke that hurt place a few more times. Then, one recent Sunday morning, as I listened to Pastor Jeff’s message, “The Forgiveness Prayer,” I knew what I had to do. I had to really mean it when I prayed, “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” If God doesn’t hold grudges, cling to hurts or poke at sore spots, neither should I. I wrote my prayer of forgiveness and release, placed it on top of my phone, and held both in my hands. When I was ready, I pressed “delete.”

Thanks to all those who completed the Losing to Live Program! We started out on January 6 with 36 participants. Of those, 22 completed the 12-week program, and we celebrated on March 29 with a one-mile walk, some healthy appetizers, entertain-ment and awards! The program addressed physical, spiritual and emotional aspects of wellness in addition to weight loss. The group lost over 200 pounds during the last 3 months. Special acknowledgement to my support cadre: Pastor Jeff Carter, Sandra Stone, Sandy Horan, Jon Bova, Liz Miller, Kara Hawkins, Kristen Carter and Tom McQuary. And special thanks to Lumber Jack’s Lodge for providing gift certificates as prizes for Losing to Live participants. Congratulations to everyone who participated!
