Confession and Forgiveness In the name of the Father, and of the ☩ Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

    Amen.

Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are

hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may

perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    Amen.

Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. Most merciful God,

we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned

against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have

left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our

neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.

Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your

ways, to the glory of your holy name.

    Amen.

God, who is rich in mercy, loved us even when we were dead in sin, and made us alive

together with Christ. By grace you have been saved. In the name of ☩Jesus Christ, your sins

are forgiven. Almighty God strengthen you with power through the Holy Spirit, that Christ

may live in your hearts through faith.

    Amen.

    Hymn of Praise

    Prayer of the Day

Let us pray. God of the seas, sky, and land: When Jonah turned to run from you, you

showed him that nothing and no one could hide from your presence. You are in all

things, and you love all things. Show us the gift of your presence, and help us to carry

your word of compassion and grace to all the world, in the name of the one who

carried out your love flawlessly, Jesus Christ, our redeemer. Amen.

    ...in faith

    Our worship leader

    heralds us into song

    proclaiming that right

    here, right now This(!) is

    the feast of victory for

    our God.

    Then, drawing directly

    from the description of

    heaven in the book of

    Revelation, our voices are

    joined to that heavenly

    throng as we sing with

    them, “Worthy is the Lamb

who was slain, to receive power

    and wealth and wisdom and

    might and honor and glory

    and blessings!”

    (Revelation 5:12)

Not only is this song a

    powerful proclamation of

    what God has

    accomplished in Christ,

    but also what now Christ

    is accomplishing in us

    today.

    Our joint response to

    singing of God’s grace

    and saving work for each

    of us, we then enter

    corporate prayer.

A Year of Growing ...in our relationships

    Children are welcome to

    come forward for a word

    from the pastor. After-

    wards they are welcome

    to return to their seats

with you or go to the

    nursery with a Nursery

    Attendant. Nursery care

    is offered for children up

    to age 6. Also, activity

    bags are available in the

    narthex (entry).

    Today’s Nursery Attend-

    ants are:

    Kelley Yount

    Sarah Bartell

    The Nursery is located at

right of the front of the

    sanctuary.

    Coming next week:

    Isaiah 6:1-8

    Psalm 29:1-11

1Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the belly of the fish, 2saying, "I called to the LORD out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice. 3You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounded me; all your waves and your billows passed over me. 4Then I said, 'I am driven away from your sight; how shall I look again upon your holy temple?' 5The waters closed in over me; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped around my head

6at the roots of the mountains.

I went down to the land

    whose bars closed upon me forever;

yet you brought up my life from the Pit,

    O LORD my God.

7As my life was ebbing away,

    I remembered the LORD;

and my prayer came to you,

    into your holy temple.

    8Those who worship vain idols

    forsake their true loyalty.

9But I with the voice of thanksgiving

    will sacrifice to you;

what I have vowed I will pay.

    Deliverance belongs to the LORD!"

    The Offering is an

    important part of

    Christian worship; a

    moment when we

    share God’s abundance

    by giving back to God

    what God has first

    given to us: our selves,

    time, talents, and

    finances.

    Thank you for all the

    ways you live by God’s

    grace, sharing from

    what you have to

    empower the mission

    and ministry to which

God has called us as St.

    John’s Lutheran

    Church.

    Holy, Holy, Holy

    The Words of Institution

    The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,

on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive

those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For

the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.

    ...our reach

    The two Sacraments of

    the church are God’s

    gift to us.

    The Great Thanksgiving

    is when we lift our

    hearts in thanksgiving to

    a good and generous

    God.

    Jesus Christ is present

for you in the bread and

wine; it is the body and

    blood of Jesus Christ

    given and shed for you.

    All are welcome to

    commune at St. John’s.

    If your child does not

    yet commune, you are

    welcome to bring them

    forward to receive a

    blessing from Pastor

    Mark.

    Communion will be

    served from the kneelers

    at the front of the

    sanctuary. Ushers will

    direct you forward for

    distribution. You will

    receive the host to eat

    and then wine (red) or

    juice (white) from an

    individual communion

    cup. Gluten-free wafers

    are available. Please

    indicate your need to
