Solvay enjoys a 50-year joint venture partnership with an MP Birla group for guar gum and guar extracts. Derivatized guar is a polymer produced from a bean grown mainly in India
Solvay's technology makes it possible to use the guar gum, after processing in the Group's site in Vernon, Texas, for numerous purposes, including conditioners for shower gels and shampoos and additives for the extraction of gas and oil
India is the no. 1 producer of guar gum in the world. Since 2008, Solvay has worked with Hichem to develop cationic guar gum (conditioners for shampoos) locally in India.
