Corporate Directory – management & directors

Leon Daniels, Ph.D. Geochemistry, B.Sc., B.Sc. Hons. Geology, Chairman, Director Dr. Daniels has over 35 years experience in diamond exploration and production. He discovered the Klipfontein kimberlite pipe in South Africa early in his career. Dr. Daniels previously worked for Falconbridge Exploration, Botswana, evaluating the 180 ha crater facies M1 kimberlite, for Trans Hex Group in Swaziland conducting the evaluation of the Dokolwayo Diamond Mine, for Roan Selection Trust International in Angola, overseeing production of five alluvial mines, and consulted on the evaluation of the River Ranch kimberlite in Zimbabwe. Dr. Daniels also discovered the DK4 kimberlite (only kimberlite in the Orapa kimberlite field not discovered by De Beers), the Mambali kimberlite field in Zimbabwe for Trillion Resources Ltd., and more recently co-founded African Diamonds Plc (AIM: AFD), subsequently acquired by Lucara Diamond Corp. (TSX: LUC), in 2010 for $100M.

Willem Smuts, Ph.D. Geology, M. Sc., B.Sc. Hons. Geology, President & CEO, Director Dr. Smuts is a Professional Geologist with over 25 years experience in exploration, reserve evaluation and planning in the mining sector. He has extensive success in leadership roles in environments ranging from government, consultancy to global corporations. Dr. Smuts has successfully coordinated and executed exploration programs in Africa, including being executive manager and co-owner of Genres from 1994 to 2000. He also has performed environmental impact studies for several firms and was editor/managing editor of three award-winning mining magazines.

Graham Warren, B Comm., CMA, CFO Graham Warren is a senior financial executive with over 25 years of progressive experience with emerging and established companies in the environmental, telecom, mining, oil and gas, and biotech sectors. Mr. Warren has extensive board, operations, corporate finance and public markets expertise. Currently he provides CFO and corporate governance services to three publicly traded companies and serves on the board of directors of four TSXV listed Companies.

Thomas A. Fenton, L.L.B., Director Mr. Fenton is a partner of the Toronto based law firm of Aird & Berlis LLP. Mr. Fenton’s practice encompasses corporate finance and merger and acquisitions. He is currently a director and/or officer of several public and private companies.

Jean Lafleur, PGeo., B.Sc., M.Sc. Geology, Director Mr. Lafleur is a Professional Geologist with 30 years of experience in various capacities within the mineral exploration industry, including company, project and property evaluations and audits, resource estimations, project planning and execution, supervision and management. He has been active in Canada and internationally with a wide range of industry-leading companies, such as Newmont Mining Corp., Falconbridge Ltd., and Placer Dome Inc. Since 2003, he has been a mineral exploration consultant as President of PJLEXPL Mineral Exploration Inc., leading teams in the search for precious and base metals, nickel, PGE’s, and industrial minerals. He is currently a Director of Fancamp Exploration Ltd., Champion Iron Mines Ltd, and Gimus Resources Inc., and is VP Exploration at Aurvista Gold Corp. Louis Peloquin, BBA, LL.B, LL.M., Director Mr. Peloquin is a business consultant combining several specialties, including transactional law, and has extensive international experience in management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, government relations and corporate finance. He has developed a solid expertise in natural resources with over ten years experience as senior executive at major mining companies in Canada and the United States. Mr. Peloquin was a member of the management committees and senior executive of Golden Star Resources Ltd., an international mining company based in Denver, and of Quebec Cartier Mining Company (now Arcelor Mittal Mines Canada).
