DESCRIPTION
This is similar to the article published in ENGINEER Magazine about a Construction Management Section / Design Management Section (CMS/DMS) role in a combat theater, using Iraq as an example. This is the type of unit that performs original design and design reviews of others as well as surveying, CAD, environmental evaluations, etc. The unit uses 21D (Degreed engineer officers, "Facility, Construction, Contract Mgt"/FCCM), , 21T (Engineer Techncians), and 21H (Construction Managers) as the primary MOS's. The article includes recons, environmental studies, hydrology survey and studies, construction work, and other missions. This issue of ENGINEER has other articles with more detail about Det 8, 412th ENCOM and the 130th Engineer Brigade's work in Iraq. Army Engineer is the publication of the US Army Engineer Assoc, where ENGINEER Magazine is published by the US Army Engineer School.
