Making a drum beat in Redrum Step One: After opening Reason, open up the rack by double clicking on the gray bar beside its name. Adding a Redrum to your rack: Once the rack is open, add the Redrum from the instrument section. You have three options to do this. 1: You can simply drag the Redrum to the rack. 2: You can click on instruments and then find the Redrum and double click it. 3: You can right click in the rack and add instrument then Redrum. Now, to make a beat, you can load individual drum sounds in any of the channels by clicking on their folder icon if you’d like. This is a good way to get interesting sounds.

Or, you can select a whole drum kit at once by clicking on the drum kit folder icon.

Now that you have drum samples in your Redrum, you can start building your beat. To do thisclick “select” for the drum you’d like to use to start building your beat. In this case, the kick drum is selected.

Make sure that “enable patter section” is lit up and then click “run”. Once you do that, select any pad in the step sequencer where you’d like for that drum to play.
