ground - both within our industry and our Association. Starts are up andthere is a buzz in the air that this could be a great year for our market.

At the GBA, it already is. The Southern Ideal Home Show is next month.It should be a great show. Mark your calendars for PREVIEW NIGHT andplan to join us on Thursday, March 21 from 5:00 – 7:30 pm to mix andmingle with exhibitors and other GBA members before the show opens onFriday. It’s FREE for you, your employees and invited guests.

And, if you haven't heard already, April 18th we are giving away $10,000at our first ever Reverse Raffle / Draw Down. Winner Takes All - No“Maybe We'll Split It” Raffle. Many thanks to everyone who is helpingmake this event happen. Tickets are $100 which includes dinner and onechance to win the $10,000. Odds are 1 in 300. Our goal is to donate$10,000+ to Habitat for Humanity as a springboard for our RaisingRoofs…Builders for Habitat blitz this fall. We have built 43 houses in thehistory of our partnership with Habitat Greensboro. This year we plan toeclipse 50 homes built within 10 years! Start thinking now about how youcan help us in November.

Eugene Gulledge Award

The Eugene Gulledge Awardfor Distinguished Service isthe highest honor given bythe Builders Associationrecognizing continuous,outstanding contributions tothe Association, industry andthe community at large overa long period of time.

Steve Monroe, SME &Associates was awarded the2012 Gulledge Award. Stevehas more than 40 yearsexperience in the buildingindustry. Throughout hiscareer, he has been a veryengaged and active memberon the local, state andnational levels. He hasauthored two booksdesigned to help otherAssociate members and is afrequent presenter atregional, state and nationaltrade shows and conferences. Steve currently serves as a StateDirector on the GBA and NCHBA Board of Directors.

Kavanagh CupSince 1995, GBA has presented the KavanaghCup recognizing individuals, companies and/ororganizations for their efforts in strengtheningaffordable housing in Guilford County. The2012 Kavanagh Cup was presented to TomHall, Windsor Investments for his individualand corporate commitment to affordablehousing. Tom currently serves on the HabitatGreensboro Board of Directors and chairs theirBuilding Committee. He has also been anactive participation in GBA Raising Roofs…Builders for Habitat builds.

Lewis AwardRich and Kathy Dumas, R & K Custom Homes were presentedthe Lewis Award for utilizing the most Association members in theconstruction of their homes in the 2012 Parade of Homes withmore than 40 GBA members participating.

President’s AwardA. C. Jones, a long-time veteran in the building and real estateindustry was posthumously awarded the President’s Award for hisyears of service and contributions.

The Parade isa win-win for everyone involved…builders, associates and consumers.Builder participation helps not onlypromote your company, getting infront of prospective buyers...it alsohelps your suppliers and tradecontractors gain name recognitionas a valued and trusted industryresource. The greater theparticipation of our members…the stronger message toconsumers we send that NOW is the best time to considerbuying and/or building a new home.

Information on each Parade home remains on the GBAwebsite and Parade of Homes mobile app for six months,providing continued exposure and marketing benefits for yourcompany. The GBA website averages more than 6,000visitors per month, increasing to more than 12,000 visits duringParade of Home months. Raising Roofs…Builders for Habitat

The Greensboro BuildersAssociation and Habitat forHumanity of GreaterGreensboro are teaming upthe week of November 4-8to construct 7-8 houses inone week at The Village atNorthside. It’s our 10thyear anniversary since ourfirst build in 2003 in whichwe constructed 12 homes inone week. To date we havebuilt 43 homes through ourpartnership. This year’s goalis to meet or exceed building50 homes in our first 10 years.

Raising Roofs…Builders for Habitat brings builders,remodelers, suppliers and trade contractors together to workside by side to build houses from foundation to dedication inone incredible week.

Builder teams will be forming this spring. In years past, 3-6builders have partnered on the construction of a house.We will be constructing the homes to meet Energy Star and theNational Green Building Standard.

Habitat homes are simple, decent and affordable houses sold tohardworking families at no-profit and with interest-freefinancing. In addition to a modest down payment, familiescontribute 300 hours of “sweat equity” toward the purchase oftheir home. For Raising Roofs homes, families will volunteer onother construction projects to achieve their required hours.

There are numerous ways that GBA members can be involvedin this year’s build from serving on one of the builder teams; toproviding products, labor and services for the construction ofthese homes; to serving on our Logistics, Hospitality and/orFund Raising teams.

NEW Website as Industry ResourceCurrently under development is a new GBA website that will placegreater emphasis on our Membership Directory. On a monthly basis,we average more than 6,000 unique visitors with primary emphasison searches within the directory. During the Parade of Homes andTour of Remodeled Homes, we double our website traffic.

Our goal is for consumers to “bookmark” our website utilizing it astheir “go-to” resource for any construction, remodeling or homeimprovement need. To do that, we are looking to expand yourcomplimentary listing to include photographs and additionalinformation about your company, providing you additional ways topromote your business, products and services.

Value of Using GBA MembersWe utilize the website, along with our Parade and Tour magazinesto promote the value and importance of using GBA members, bothwith editorial articles and ads such as these.

The Political Action Committee of the North CarolinaHome Builders Association (NC BUILD-PAC) is anon-partisan committee organized for the specificpurpose of raising funds to support pro-housingcandidates of all parties at the state and local levels ofgovernment.

Contributions to NC BUILD-PAC are an investment in thefuture of your business and the building industry as awhole. It is essential that we are able to supportcandidates that understand and will fight for issuesimportant to us. Thirty percent of funds raised are usedto support local city and county candidates.

We encourage all GBA members to make a contributionthis year. Donations must be made from your personalaccount. Corporate checks are not allowed. Pledgeforms can be found on the GBA website.

Sponsorships on the course are a great way to market andpromote your company. Majority of sponsorships provide anopportunity to have face-to-face time with players.Registrations are available on a first come, first serve basis.
