    Dear Readers,

Being the editor of Bugle newsletter and part of NCMPR team for

the past two years, has been a wonderful experience. Before every issue I

feared the errors and strict deadlines but the acknowledgment and

appreciation would overcome everything. Being an alumni of BUKC and staff

at NCMPR, I enjoyed my journey, which was truly inspirational. I thank Rector

Vice Admiral Shahid Iqbal HI(M) (Retd), DG NCMPR Vice Admiral Asaf Humayun

HI(M) (Retd) and other well wishers for their endless support and encouragement. I am sure

that Ms. Naz, the new editor of Bugle will progress the work started by me. I wish you all the best in your

    future endeavours.

A bright and healthy smile not

    only boosts self-condence and

    leaves a good impression but

also increases one's interest in main-

taining good oral hygiene. Pak Dental

    Community organized a workshop on

    Teeth Whitening in collaboration with

    Bahria University Medical and Dental

    College on Friday, 14th November

2014. More than 50 participants from

    different dental colleges of Karachi

attended the workshop and gave a won-

    derful response.

The main intention of this work-

shop was to enhance the knowledge

and condence to carry out teeth whit-

    ening procedures in clinical practice.

The workshop started with the reci-

tation of verses from the Holy Quran

followed by lectures of the instructors,

Dr Abu Bakar Sheikh and Dr Faizan

    Syed (Faculty Bahria University

    Medical & Dental College). They

briefed the participants about the top-

    ics including Introduction to Teeth

    Whitening, Scientic Aspects of

    Teeth Whitening and Different

    Techniques and Materials. They also

    discussed the sensitivity related to

    teeth whitening procedure in detail

along with pre and post treatment

advice for patients for long lasting

    results.

Dr Abu Bakar Sheikh, an expert in

the teeth whitening practices, gave a

    live demonstration after the lecture.

    The session ended with certicates

    distribution ceremony among partici-

pants and shields to the Instructors.

The audience gave positive feedback on

    the workshop.

The limited data available on oral

    health status shows high oral

    disease patterns because of lack

of timely prevention, scarcity of com-

    munity oriented oral health programs

    and prompt treatment services. Com-

munity interest in oral health is impor-

tant to halt this trend. Keeping the

    importance of awareness in view,

    Bahria University Medical & Dental

    and dental problems.

    BUM&DC doctors briefed the par-

ticipants about the importance of oral

hygiene and motivated them for rou-
