Dear Readers,
Being the editor of Bugle newsletter and part of NCMPR team for
the past two years, has been a wonderful experience. Before every issue I
feared the errors and strict deadlines but the acknowledgment and
appreciation would overcome everything. Being an alumni of BUKC and staff
at NCMPR, I enjoyed my journey, which was truly inspirational. I thank Rector
Vice Admiral Shahid Iqbal HI(M) (Retd), DG NCMPR Vice Admiral Asaf Humayun
HI(M) (Retd) and other well wishers for their endless support and encouragement. I am sure
that Ms. Naz, the new editor of Bugle will progress the work started by me. I wish you all the best in your
future endeavours.

The limited data available on oral
health status shows high oral
disease patterns because of lack
of timely prevention, scarcity of com-
munity oriented oral health programs
and prompt treatment services. Com-
munity interest in oral health is impor-
tant to halt this trend. Keeping the
importance of awareness in view,
Bahria University Medical & Dental
College (BUM&DC) conducted a free
dental camp at SRE SABIR on 4th
December 2014 in Karachi. Dentists'
team of BUM&DC including Dr Faizan
Syed, Dr Zahra Zeeshan, Dr Raima
Bashir and Dr Isra Ahmed led the
camp and screened residents for oral
and dental problems.
BUM&DC doctors briefed the par-
ticipants about the importance of oral
hygiene and motivated them for rou-
tine brushing and healthy dietary hab-
its. Colgate Pakistan sponsored free
oral health kits containing tooth-
brushes and toothpastes for distribu-
tion among the children and adults
along with educational brochures and
brushing charts to encourage oral
hygiene practices. All the community
participants gave positive response.
Dr Kulsoom Rizvi, Principal
Dental Section, Bahria University

SD e p a r t m e n t o f B a h r i a University visited Pakistan Sweet Homes on 10th November 2014
under the supervision of Mrs Uzma
Masroor, Head of the Department of
Professional Psychology. The purpose
of the visit was to plan free counselling
sessions for the children of Pakistan
Sweet Homes. The children living in
Pakistan Sweet Homes are orphans
who lost their families in terrorist
attacks, oods, earthquakes and other
operations, which caused trauma
among them. Therefore, they need
deep counselling sessions for better
development of their personalities and
mental growth. The students of
Psychology Department believe that
counselling is the structured and sys-
tematic approach to resolve problems
that are linked to stressful circum-
stances. They also hope that it will help
them to come out of that trauma.
