This is the first of four meetings between the Sabres and Panthers this season.

Last meeting: Florida defeated Buffalo 4-2 in Florida on Feb. 19.

Next meeting: Sunday, Nov. 24 in Florida

The Sabres are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Panthers; 4-6-0 at home.

This is the 101st game all-time between Buffalo and Florida; Buffalo has a 49-42-9 series record.

The Sabres are 28-19-4 at home against the Panthers all-time.  THIS DATE IN SABRES HISTORY

The Sabres are 7-5-3 all-time on October 11.

October 11, 1979: Lindy Ruff scores in his first NHL game, a 6-3 win vs. Washington, becoming the first Sabres defenseman ever to

score in his NHL debut.  THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

The Sabres are 3-0-1 through four games. It’s the first time Buffalo has started a season with points in four straight games since the

team went 4-0-1 through its first five games of the 2009-10 season.

Buffalo is looking to start the season with wins in each of the team’s first three home games for the first time since the 2008-09

season.

Through four games, the Sabres have already gotten points from 14 different players this season. Rasmus Dahlin (1+6), Victor

Olofsson (4+1) and Sam Reinhart (2+3) have all tallied at least a point in each of the team’s first four contests.

HOT AGAINST FLORIDA

Sam Reinhart has 18 points (9+9) in 17 career games against the Panthers, including six multi-point games and points in each of

the last seven meetings (4+6). His career output of 1.06 points per game against Florida is his best against any NHL team.

Jeff Skinner has recorded 11 points (8+3) in his last nine games against Florida, including points in all four of last season’s

matchups (4+2).

Jack Eichel has tallied at least a point in each of his last four meetings with the Panthers, totaling five points (1+4) in those games.

Vladimir Sobotka has totaled eight points (1+7) in 10 matchups with Florida dating back to the beginning of the 2010-11 season,

including a point in each of his last two (1+1).

Carter Hutton is 2-1-0 in four career appearances against the Panthers with a .933 save percentage and a 2.03 goals-against

average.  VIC-O MODE

Victor Olofsson enters tonight’s game on a career-best four-game point streak after tallying five points (4+1) through Buffalo’s first

four games.

With goals in each of Buffalo’s last three contests, Olofsson enters tonight’s game with a chance to become the first Sabres rookie

to tally a goal in four straight games since Donald Audette scored in five straight as a rookie from Nov. 8 to 20, 1991.

All four of Olofsson’s goals this season have come on the power play, tying him for the league lead in power-play goals entering

play Thursday. He also led all rookies in goals (4), points (5) and shots (13), and led rookie forwards in ice time per game (18:28).

Since he made his NHL debut on March 28, 2019 vs. Detroit, no NHL player has scored more power-play goals than Olofsson’s six

in 10 games played. He has tied an NHL record by becoming the fourth player in NHL history to score each of his first four career

goals with a man advantage, joining Craig Norwich, Sylvain Turgeon and Jeff Norton.  RAS, SHOOT, SCORE

Rasmus Dahlin entered play Thursday tied for first in the league with six assists and tied for third with seven points this season.

His seven points through Buffalo’s first four games are the most ever recorded by a teenage defenseman through his team’s first four

contests to begin an NHL season.

Dahlin’s current four-game point streak leaves him one game shy of his career-best mark set from Jan. 8 to 16, 2019 (1+5), and he

has now tallied at least a point in six straight games dating back to last season. With a point tonight, he would tie Drew Doughty

(2009-10) and Larry Murphy (1980-81) for the longest season-opening point streaks ever recorded by a teenage defenseman (5

games).

He is also one game from tying his personal-best four-game assist streak, which he set in November last season before tying it in

January and again in March.  PLAYING WITH POWER

The Sabres entered play Thursday with the second-ranked power play in the league, converting on a league-high eight of their 15

power plays this season (53.3%).

According to NaturalStatTrick.com, Buffalo also ranked among the league’s leaders in shot generation with the man advantage,

averaging 2.94 shots (2nd) and 4.41 shot attempts (2nd) per two minutes of power-play time.

With two power-play goals in each of their last three games, the Sabres have scored multiple power-play tallies in three straight

games for the first time since March 4 to 7, 2009. With two or more power-play goals tonight, they would stretch that streak to four

games for the first time since they went five games with multiple power-play goals from Feb. 21 to March 1, 1996.

chance percentage of 67.39%, out-chancing their opponents 31-15 in high-danger situations at 5-on-5 through the team’s first four

games.*

By this metric, Jeff Skinner leads all Sabres with six high-danger scoring chances during 5-on-5 play. Skinner tied for ninth in the

league with 94 high-danger scoring chances last season. *A complete definition of scoring chances can be found at http://naturalstattrick.com/glossary.php?teams. WELCOME TO BUFFALOThe Sabres had five new players on their opening-night roster this season:
