Terrence M. Pegula Owner

Back in 1983, Terry Pegula told his business partner Robert H. Long, Jr., If I ever

have more than two nickels to my name, Im going to buy the Buffalo Sabres

one day.Now, almost 30 years later, Terrys dream has come to fruition.

On Feb. 22, 2011, Pegula became the ourth owner in Bualo Sabres ranchise history. On the day

Pegula was introduced as owner, the Sabres were 27-25-6 and sat in ninth place in the Eastern Con-

erence - ve points out o a playo spot. Pegulas purchase not only reenergized the an base, but

the players as well. With Pegula now at the helm, the Sabres went on a 16-4-4 run over the nal 24 games o the season to nish

seventh in the East. This included a 9-1-2 record at home, and HSBC Arena which quickly became known as Pegulaville

was sold out or all 12 games o the new era o Sabres ownership.

Soon ater purchasing the Sabres, Pegula explored the idea o acquiring the Rochester Americans, the AHL team that had previ-

ously spent 29 years as the Sabres aliate beore a three-year hiatus. On June 24, 2011, the Sabres announced the reunication

o the Western New York teams.

Pegulas interest in the NHL began when the Sabres aced the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1975 Stanley Cup Final. His aection

or the French Connection Line began with that series, and led to his anity or the Sabres ranchise. While operating East Re-

sources Inc. in Western New York and Pittsburgh throughout the 1980s and 90s, and living in Vestal, Olean and Orchard Park

during that span, Terry rst bought season tickets at the Memorial Auditorium in 1980. He remained a loyal Sabres season ticket

holder or the next 18 seasons.

Born in 1951 and raised in Carbondale, PA, he attended high school at Scranton Preparatory School. Pegula entered Penn State

University as a Math major, but in order to stay in school he entered the Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering program through

a scholarship. He went on to graduate with a Bachelor o Science degree in 1973, and landed his rst job with Getty Oil Co. in

Victoria, TX. He later joined Felmont Oil Co., a decision that rst brought him to Olean, NY, in 1975.

In 1983, he borrowed $7,500 rom amily and riends to ound East Resources Inc., an independent oil and gas exploration and

development company. Over the next 27 years, he built it into one o the largest privately held companies in the United States. InJuly o 2010, Royal Dutch Shell purchased the assets o East Resources Inc. or $4.7 billion (US). That sale allowed the Pegulas

to make their rst oray into the hockey world.

On September 17, 2010, Terry and his wie, Kim, donated $88 million to Penn State University -- the largest private git in the his-

tory o the school -- to und a state-o-the-art, multi-purpose arena, a world-class practice acility and help to establish an NCAA

Division I mens hockey program. Thanks to their generosity, Penn State is now able to add both mens and womens varsity

hockey teams, and they will both begin play in the 2012-13 season. The building will include two ice sheets, and serve as the only

major ice acility within an 80-mile radius o State College. In addition to providing hockey and gure skating opportunities or the

entire Central Pennsylvania region, it will also be used or a broad range o campus and community activities. With design and

construction meetings being held currently, Penn State hopes to break ground on the University Park campus or the Pegula Ice

Arena later this year.

Terry and Kim currently reside in Boca Raton, FL, and have ve children: Michael (33), Laura (29), Jessica (17), Kelly (15) andMatthew (12). Pegulas younger daughters, Jessica and Kelly, were both born in Bualo. A native o nearby Rochester, NY, Kim

Pegula is a 1991 graduate o nearby Houghton College with a degree in Communications, and was involved with East Resources

since 1991. Together they have also ounded Black River Music Group, a country music label based in Nashville, TN, and Ayrault

Sports Agency based in Charlotte, NC.

Theodore Black President & Alternate Governor

As president o the Bualo Sabres, Ted Black oversees all aspects o the day-to-day operations o the

ranchise, with specic ocus on making the Bualo Sabres the premier destination or NHL players

and a rst-rate environment or the Sabres current and uture employees. In addition, Ted providesstrategic and creative leadership in areas including corporate partnerships, advertising, NHL rela-

tions, team marketing, Sabres television broadcasts, an relations and ticket sales.

With the 2011 reunication o the Sabres and the Rochester Americans, Ted became the President

or the AHL team as well. His plan is to bring the same vision and the same goals to the Amerks as

he has to the Sabres, with the ultimate goal o winning championships at both levels.

Over the last decade, Ted has compiled a track record o success and experience that ew sports executives can match. Ted is

an accomplished leader who contributed to and presided over unprecedented growth with both the Pittsburgh Penguins and

FSN Pittsburgh. He enjoys close relationships with top executives, corporate sponsors, proessional sports teams, television net-

works and at the National Hockey League.

In late 2010, Terry Pegula enlisted Ted to undertake the task o assembling and leading the group o proessionals to adviseMr. Pegula on the acquisition o the Bualo Sabres. Teds responsibilities included guiding the transaction negotiations, due

diligence and NHL approval process.

Previously, Ted served as the Senior Vice President and General Manager o FSN Pittsburgh, a regional sports television network

that produced and telecast more than 220 live pro events and 1,500 hours o programming per year. Under Teds executive

leadership, FSN Pittsburgh grew advertising revenues every year and televised a record number o live pro events. The station

also generated record revenues, record earnings, record ratings and was widely recognized as the top-rated US-based Regional

Sports Network in the National Hockey League.

Prior to his tenure at FSN, Ted was a member o Mario Lemieuxs senior management team and served as Vice President o the

Pittsburgh Penguins rom 1999 to 2008. Ted was a member o the core group o executives that helped Lemieux execute one

o the most successul ranchise transormations in the history o proessional sports. Ted was intimately involved in all senior

executive-level decisions and strategic planning concerning the marketing, branding, sales and overall business operations andmanagement o the team. In addition to being a key strategist during the Penguins eorts to get a new arena, Ted served as the

day-to-day project leader or the new arena during the pre-construction phase o the project. He also interviewed and helped to

recruit Ray Shero to become the clubs General Manager. Ted was active with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and served

as the teams Alternate Governor to the AHL.

In 2005, Ted was honored and recognized by Pittsburgh Magazine as a Forty Under Forty community leader. He served as

Chairman o the American Heart Associations 2011 Bualo Niagara Heart Walk and was Honorary Chairman o the 19th Annual

Big Brothers and Big Sisters o Niagara County Charity Gol Tournament.

Ted is a 1987 graduate o Allegheny College and he received his J.D. rom the University o Pittsburgh School o Law in 1990.

Ted now lives in Bualo with his wie, Amy, and their two hockey-playing sons, Andrew (19) and Nathan (16).

Ken Sawyer Senior Advisor & Alternate Governor

Ken Sawyer is entering his second year as Senior Advisor or the Bualo Sabres. Sawyers primary

duty is to assist owner Terry Pegula on major organizational and hockey-related decisions or the

ranchise.

Sawyers working career spans 40 years, including 14 as the Chie Financial Ocer o the National

Hockey League and 11 years as a senior executive o the Pittsburgh Penguins. He joined the Pen-

guins in September 1999, the day ater the team emerged rom bankruptcy protection under a new

ownership group led by Mario Lemieux. He rst served as Executive Vice President and Chie Finan-

cial Ocer, becoming President in 2003 and later being appointed Chie Executive Ocer in 2006.

Under his leadership, the Penguins adopted a strategic plan to ensure that the team would be successul both on the ice and

as a business, and thus be assured o a long uture in Pittsburgh. During his tenure, the on-ice product was rebuilt and now

consists o one o the best rosters o young players in the NHL, including superstars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. In 2009,

the team reached the pinnacle o success on the ice, winning the Stanley Cup or the third time in ranchise history. As CEO,

Sawyer oversaw all o the Penguins operations and the team has emerged as a tremendous success o the ice as well, selling

out every game since early 2007. Sawyer led eorts to nance and then construct the Consol Energy Center, which opened inAugust 2010.

Sawyer also has extensive experience in League matters ater representing the Penguins as a Governor o the NHL and serving

as Chie Financial Ocer o the NHL or 14 years. During that time he served on every major committee o the NHL.

Sawyer is a graduate o McGill University in his native Montreal, Que., and a member o the Canadian Institute o Chartered

Accountants. He is a past member o the Board o Trustees o the Carnegie Hero Fund and a current member o the Board o

Trustees o the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh. In 2010, Sawyer was honored as a recipient o the Management Achievement

Award rom the Faculty o Management at McGill University. Ken and his wie, Shirley, reside in Stuart, Fla. and have two married

sons and three grandchildren.

Cliff Benson Senior Advisor

Cli Benson is entering his second year as Senior Advisor with the Bualo Sabres or the 2011-12

season. Bensons duties as Senior Advisor will be supplemented by work with the Bualo Sabres

Foundation.

Benson, a CPA and attorney, served the Deloitte Tax LLP organization or 37 years, including 10

years as lead client service partner in the market place unction. He became partner in 1981 and

served in the New York and South Florida oces beore transerring to Pittsburgh and eventually

retiring in May 2010.

In 2000, Benson, along with members o the Pittsburgh Penguins Alumni, ormed Hockey in the Hood. Founded with a grant

rom the National Hockey Leagues Diversity Task Force and assistance rom the Pittsburgh Penguins, Hockey in the Hood (now

called Pittsburgh ICE) was one o 40 major diversity ice hockey programs throughout the United States and Canada with the goal

o reaching underprivileged inner-city children by teaching them skating and ice hockey lessons.

Benson served as the lead client service partner or the worldwide services provided to the United States Steel Corporation and

H.J. Heinz. Other clients served over his long career at Deloitte include Armco, Bayer Corporation, Marathon Oil, PPG Industries,Rockwell International, the Pittsburgh Penguins and East Resources.

Benson is passionate about serving the community and has been actively involved in charitable organizations or most o his

career primarily those that benet inner city children with limited opportunities. He is aliated with Quaker Valley Hockey As-

sociation, Imani Christian Academy (Board Chair), Pittsburgh Kids Foundation , Silver Ring Thing and The Second Mile (Finance

Chair). Cli was privileged to make three trips to Haiti bringing medical relie ollowing the 2010 earthquake.

Darcy Regier General Manager

The 2011-12 season will be the 15th year Darcy Regier serves as General Manager or the Bualo

Sabres, the longest tenure o any GM in the 41-year history o the ranchise. The Sabres have posted

a regular season record o 526-390-150 under Regiers guidance, while also advancing to the StanleyCup Finals in 1999 and making our Eastern Conerence Finals appearances (1998, 1999, 2006 and

2007). Regier and head coach Lindy Ru orm the longest-serving GM/ Head Coach combination in

pro sports, and have had more success than any tandem in ranchise history.

Regier and his scouting sta have consistently built a solid oundation o talent, year ater year, through

the NHL Entry Drat. Proo o their drating success can be seen every time the Sabres take the ice. In the 2010-11 season, nine o the

teams top 12 goal scorers were acquired through the Entry Drat and have spent time with the teams AHL aliates. This list includes

Thomas Vanek, Derek Roy, Jason Pominville and Drew Staord all o whom later signed long-term contracts with the Sabres.

The long-term success o Regiers drat picks can oten be spotted early, as his drat picks have made a habit o scooping up nu-

merous AHL awards while playing or the Sabres aliate teams. AHL award-winners have included three consecutive AHL Rookie

o the Year winners: Nathan Gerbe (2008-09), Tyler Ennis (2009-10) and Luke Adam (2010-11); AHL Goaltender o the Year, Ryan

Miller, or the 2004-05 season and 2011 AHL Deenseman o the Year, Marc-Andre Gragnani. His drat selections have gone on towin awards at the NHL level as well, with Miller being awarded the 2010 Vezina Trophy and 2008 rst-round selection Tyler Myers

winning the Calder Trophy that same year.

Regier has ound a lot o success in the earlier rounds o the drat. Bualos roster includes several players who were drated in the

rst or second round since Regiers rst drat in 1997, including: Vanek (1st, 2003), Roy (2nd, 2001), Pominville (2nd, 2001), Myers

(1st, 2008), Ennis (1st, 2008) and Staord (1st, 2004). Each o these early-round drat picks was among the top eight goal scorers

Productive players have also been ound in later rounds, rom veterans like Miller (5th, 1999) and Paul Gaustad (7th, 2000), to young-

sters such as Gerbe (5th, 2005) who has already made an impact in the organization. Gerbe joined Sabres drat pick, Andrej Sekera

(3rd, 2004), in signing a multi-year deal during the oseason.

The hockey departments success hasnt been limited to their hard work on drat day. Several trades and ree agent signings this o-

season have landed Bualo exceptional talent or the upcoming season. This summer saw Regier aggressively bolster the deense

by acquiring Christian Ehrho and Robyn Regehr. The Sabres acquired Regehr along with seasoned veteran Ales Kotalik, who last

played with the Sabres in the 2008-09 season. Forward Ville Leino was also acquired through ree agency and signed a multi-year

deal during the oseason.

Prior to joining the Sabres, Regier served in roles with the New York Islanders as Director o Hockey Administration, Assistant Coach,

and Assistant General Manager. While on Long Island, he supervised the clubs amateur development, and saw their International

Hockey League aliate win back-to-back championships (Denver Grizzlies in 1994-95 and then, ater moving to Salt Lake City, the

Utah Grizzlies in 1995-96). Legendary Islanders coach Al Arbour, along with Bill Torrey, who served in roles as General Manager,

President, Chairman o the Board and Consultant with New York, were signicant contributors to Regiers career in hockey. Regier

let the Islanders organization briefy in the 1991-92 season to serve as an assistant coach with the Hartord Whalers.

Born in Swit Current, Saskatchewan, Regier was the th choice (77th overall) o the Caliornia Golden Seals in the 1976 Amateur

Drat. He appeared in 26 NHL games over the course o three seasons with the Cleveland Barons and the New York Islanders, total-

ing two assists and 35 penalty minutes. Regier played parts o eight seasons o proessional hockey and was a member o three

championship teams. In 1982, he was named a First Team All-Star with Indianapolis (IHL), where he learned rom one o the people

he considers an infuence on his hockey lie, current Detroit Red Wings Senior Vice President Jim Devellano, then the teams general

manager.

During his playing career, Regier was also involved in the early setup o the Proessional Hockey Players Association.

Darcy and his wie, Katherine, reside in Clarence and have three sons: Jonathan, Justin and Jarrett.

Lindy Ruff Head Coach

On July 21, 1997, Lindy Ru was hired to be the 15th head coach in Bualo Sabres history. Fourteen

years and many milestones later, Ru stands alone as the longest tenured head coach in the NHL and

the third-longest tenured coach in all proessional major league sports in the U.S. During his career, Ruhas not only become the winningest coach in Sabres history, but his success and longevity have put

him among the top coaches in league history.

Last season, Ru led the Sabres to a record o 43-29-10 and to the playos or the second straight year.

The playo appearance was the eighth in Rus career and brought his playo winning percentage to

.564, the best record in ranchise history. His 57 playo wins also places him 15th all-time among NHL coaches.

The successul 2010-11 campaign not only gave Ru his sixth 40-win season, but also propelled him past NHL coaching legends

in both career wins and games coached. He nished the season with 526 career wins, passing Hall o Fame coaches Glen Sather

(497) and Toe Blake (500) and nishing ahead o Pat Burns (501) at 14th all-time. Entering the 2011-12 season, his career record

stands at 526-390-150. Ru nished the season by coaching his 1,066th game, which lands him 13th all-time in league history.

Among active coaches, Ru ranks sixth in both games coached and wins.

What sets Ru apart is the success hes had with a single ranchise. Ru has spent his entire head coaching career leading the

Sabres and now ranks second in league history in games coached (1,066) and wins (526) with a single ranchise. He trails only the

legendary Al Arbour, who coached 1,500 games and won 740 contests with the New York Islanders.

Ru established himsel as one o the leagues premier coaches early in his career. He reached the playos in his rst season, an

achievement none o his predecessors had ever experienced. The 1997-98 squad set a team record by winning eight straight playo

games and tied the club mark with 10 playo wins. The Conerence Finals appearance was the teams rst since 1980, which, ironi-

cally, was Rus rookie year with Bualo.

In only his second season as head coach, Ru led the 1998-99 Sabres to their rst Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 24 years and

established himsel as one o the leagues top coaches. He also achieved a club record that season or the most wins (14) in one

playo year. In the process, Ru became only the third head coach under the present Stanley Cup Playo ormat to lead his team

to the Conerence Finals in each o his rst two seasons.

Ater the NHL Lockout in 2004-05, the Sabres would yet again experience unquestioned success under Rus leadership. He led

the surprising Sabres to the Eastern Conerence Finals in 2005-06, where the team lost on the road in Game 7 against the Carolina

Hurricanes. For these accomplishments, Ru was honored by the NHL with the Jack Adams Award as the leagues Coach o the

Year, joining Ted Nolan (1997) as the only other head coach in team history to receive this honor.

During the 2006-07 season, the Sabres had their nest year under Ru statistically when the team won a ranchise-record 53 games

and captured the rst Presidents Trophy in club history, while leading both the Northeast Division and Eastern Conerence rom

wire-to-wire. This was also the rst time in ranchise history the Sabres had posted back-to-back 50-win seasons. Bualo returned to

the Eastern Conerence Finals or the second consecutive season, and the ourth time under Rus guidance. On April 5, 2007, a

5-4 Bualo victory over Ottawa made Ru the 31st coach in NHL history to record 300 career wins, and the 16th in NHL history to

reach the milestone with the same team.

Ru was named to the 2007 NHL All-Star Game or the second time in his career as Head Coach o the Eastern Conerence squad,

and was runner-up to Vancouvers Alain Vigneault or the Jack Adams Trophy as the NHLs Coach o the Year. Ru also coached

the World team the 1999 All-Star Game in Tampa Bay. He joined Scotty Bowman and Floyd Smith as the only Bualo coaches to be

named as head coach o an All-Star Team.

In 2010, Ru received yet another honor in his prolic career as he was selected as a member o the coaching sta or the Canadian

mens hockey team that took home a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

Ru was the Sabres second-round (32nd overall) drat pick in 1979 ollowing a distinguished career as a deenseman with Leth-

bridge (WHL). He made the team at his rst training camp and played in 63 games. Ater the 1979-80 season, he was named the

teams rookie o the year. Ru ranks sixth all-time on the Sabres regular season list in penalty minutes (1,126) and is tied or 12th in

games played (608). In 691 career games, he recorded 105 goals and 195 assists to go with 1,264 penalty minutes.

Lindy Ruff Head Coach

In his 1981-82 season, Ru was converted to play let wing ater having been a deenseman throughout his junior career and rst

two proessional seasons. In November 1986, he received perhaps his greatest individual honor as a Sabre when he was selected

to replace Gilbert Perreault as team captain ater the legends retirement.

Ru ended his playing career ater serving as a player/assistant coach or the 1992-93 season with the San Diego Gulls o the IHL.

Head Coach Roger Nielson (who coached Ru in Bualo and with the Rangers) tabbed Ru as one o his assistants or the expan-

sion Florida Panthers or the 1993-94 campaign. As the primary coach o the penalty killing unit and deensemen, Ru received

many accolades or his work. In just their third season, the over-achieving and hard-working Panthers squad advanced to the 1996

Stanley Cup Finals.

The 51-year-old Ru and his wie Gaye reside in Clarence, N.Y., with their our children: Brett (22), Eryn (20), and twins Brian and

Madeleine (17).

James Patrick enters his sixth season behind the Sabres bench as an assistant coach. Following a brie

stint as Bualos skill development coach early in 2005-06, Patrick spent the remainder o that season

nishing his playing career in Germany or the Frankurt Lions.

Patrick was a rst-round selection (ninth overall) o the New York Rangers in the 1981 NHL Entry Drat.

During his 21-year career with the Rangers, Hartord Whalers, Calgary Flames and Sabres, the 47-year-

old native o Winnipeg, Man., scored 639 points (149+490) in 1,280 regular season games. Prior to

his retirement, Patrick was ranked ninth among active players in games played, and was one o three

remaining active players rom the rst-round o the 1981 Entry Drat. Patrick posted seven consecutive

Maple Leas, Columbus Blue Jackets, Florida Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes, Phoenix Coyotes and Chi-

cago Blackhawks. During the 2005-06 season, Adams set a career high in goals (15) and was named

went on to play or our dierent NHL clubs: the Winnipeg Jets (1988-1995), the Phoenix Coyotes (1996-

2003), the Dallas Stars (2003-04) and the Bualo Sabres (2005-09). Over the course o his prolic

playing career, Numminen played in 1,372 games, which is a record or the most games played by a Eu-

ropean-trained player in the NHL. In his entire NHL career, Numminen amassed 637 points (117+520).

seasons (1985-86 to 1991-92) o 40 or more points with the New York Rangers, including a career-high o 71 (14+57) in 1991-92.

The 71 points and 57 assists were career-bests or Patrick. He scored a career-high 17 goals in 1987-88.

Patrick played six seasons in Bualo ater signing as an unrestricted ree agent on June 7, 1998. He scored 74 points (23+51) in

345 regular season games, and added 5 points (1+4) in 38 playo games. Patricks career plus/minus total o plus-104 refects his

steady deensive play. He nished as a minus in just one o six seasons in Bualo, and in just six o his 21 seasons.

Patrick is also a veteran o international competition, having won championships or Team Canada at the 1982 World Junior Cham-pionships and 1987 Canada Cup tournaments, and bronze with the 1983 World Junior team. He also represented Canada in the

1984 Winter Olympics, and the 1983, 1987, 1998 and 2002 World Championships. Patrick and his wie, Deborah, have two daugh-

ters: Brennan and Quinn.

Jim Corsi enters his 14th year as the Sabresgoaltending coach. His duties with the team involve work-

ing with the Sabres NHL netminders, as well as the teams prospects throughout the minor leagues.

Under his tutelage, many goaltenders, including current Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller, have beneted

tremendously rom Corsis unique style both on and o the ice.

Corsi brings with him over 20 years o experience as a player, coach, manager and hockey analyst. Be-

sides his NHL duties with the Sabres, Corsi also currently works with the Italian National Team program.

Previously, he held the position o Goaltending Coach with the Canadian Womens Team (1997-98), Ot-

tawa University (CIAU) (1997-98), Schwenningen HC (Ger/DEL) (1997-98), St. Michaels Majors (OHL)

Doug McKenney begins his 18th year with the Sabres coaching sta. His duties with the team include

working on strength and conditioning programs with the NHL club, the AHL aliate Rochester Ameri-

cans, Sabres drat choices and potential dratees. He also works with physical therapists and team

doctors on the rehabilitation o all injured players.

McKenney was named the teams rst-ever Strength and Conditioning Coach in July 1995 and has

been steadily improving the teams perormance levels ever since.

McKenney places a special emphasis on teaching players nutrition to maintain conditioning throughout

(1994-97), McGill University (CIAU) (1992) and Concordia University (CIAU) (1992-present). Corsi is a member o the Concordia

University Athletic Hall o Fame in hockey and soccer.

As a proessional player in North America, Corsi played with the Edmonton Oilers and the Minnesota North Stars, as well as the

Quebec Nordiques o the WHA. Corsi continued his career overseas, playing international hockey in Europe, Russia and China rom

1980-92. During that time, he was a member o the Italian National Team at the 1984 Winter Olympic Games, and represented Italy

several times in the World Ice Hockey Championships.

Corsi is fuent in English, French, Italian and German.

Corsi and his wie, Cathy, reside in Ile Bizard, Que., with their two sons Stephen and Danny.

McKenney joined the Sabres ater serving as the strength and conditioning coach or the Hartord Whalers or six years. He served

in the same capacity or the Pittsburgh Penguins the our years prior.

A 1981 graduate o Springeld College, McKenney taught two years o physical education at Dover High School in New Hampshire,

where he served on the coaching sta o the schools ootball team and was elected into the Dover Sports Hall o Fame in Septem-

ber o 2002. He subsequently obtained his masters degree in exercise physiology at Mississippi State University.

Corey Smith Administrative Assistant Coach

John J.T. Allaire begins his rst year with the Sabres organization ater gaining 17 years o experience

at both the collegiate and proessional levels.

Prior to joining the Sabres, Allaire spent eight years with the Bualo Bills, starting in 2002 as a Strengthand Conditioning Assistant. He was promoted in 2006 and spent our years as the teams Strength and

Conditioning Coordinator. While with the Bills, he coached 15 players that appeared in the Pro Bowl.

Allaire began his career in 1993 as a strength and conditioning intern at Boston College beore being

hired at Clemson as a graduate assistant. From Clemson, Allaire was hired at Tulsa and served as

Corey Smith returns to the organization or his seventh season as Administrative Assistant Coach. As

the teams Administrative Assistant Coach, he is responsible or all o the video editing and analysis o

games, as well as pre-scouting each opponent. Smith is also involved in various other hockey depart-

ment issues, including organizing travel schedules and statistical analysis.

Smith, a graduate o SUNY Cortland, joined the Sabres in January 2005 as a Hockey Video Analyst in

the teams hockey department. Smith was promoted to his new position in January 2006. The Bualo,

NY native is the son o ormer Sabres orward Derek Smith.

Strength and Conditioning Assistant rom 1996-97. In 1998, Allaire was promoted to Director o Strength and Conditioning, a posi-

tion he held until 2002. While at Tulsa, Allaire was responsible or all strength and conditioning programs or 18 intercollegiate sports.

He was recognized as the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Strength and Conditioning Proessional o the

Year or the Western Athletic Conerence and was a nominee or the national award in 2000.

Allaire earned his bachelors degree in health tness rom Springeld College (MA) in 1993. He lives in Lakeview with his wie, Amy,

and their sons, Drew and Owen.

Jon Christiano Director o Pro Scouting

Kevin Devine begins his 14th year with the Bualo Sabres and his th as Director o Amateur Scouting.

In this role, Devine oversees the organizations seven-member amateur scouting sta and is instrumen-

tal in making Bualos NHL Entry Drat selections.

Prior to becoming the director o amateur scouting, Devine spent six years as a proessional scout in the

Sabres organization and two as an assistant amateur scout. Beore joining the Sabres, he spent three

years coaching the Prince Edward Island Senators o the AHL. He also coached in the UHL, with stints

in Port Huron and Thunder Bay.

Jon Christiano is entering his 14th season with the Sabres organization and begins his ourth season as

Director o Pro Scouting. It will also be his seventh season with the scouting department. Prior to begin-

ning his current role in the department, Christiano spent ve seasons as an assistant coach with the

Rochester Americans o the American Hockey League. During his tenure there, the Americans earned

ve playo berths and two appearances in the Calder Cup Finals.

Beore joining the Sabres, Christiano spent our years in the Florida Panthers organization. In Florida,

Christiano worked or two years on the coaching sta with the late Roger Neilson, as well as current Sa-

bres head coach Lindy Ru. Christiano also worked two years as an assistant coach with the Panthers

Devine enjoyed an 11-year proessional playing career. He spent ve years in the WHA, including three with the San Diego Mariners

and two with the Indianapolis Racers. He went on to spend six seasons in the New York Islanders organization, where he was a

reserve on the organizations rst Stanley Cup Championship team.

Devine resides in Bualo, NY during the hockey season, and spends his o-seasons in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

AHL aliate, the Greensboro Monarchs. Christiano also spent time with Neilson as the Video Coordinator or the New York Rangers.

He has worked with eight present or past NHL coaches over the course o his career.

From 1981-1991, Christiano coached in Italy, where he had a number o dierent roles. More recently, he has been involved with the

Italian National Teams an assistant coach in our dierent World Championships rom 2004-2008.

A native o Bualo, NY, Christiano graduated rom Canisius College in 1980, where he played in their hockey program. He and his

wie, Linda, reside in Grand Island, NY with their three children, Christiana, Natalia and Joseph.

Scott Schranz enters his 14th season in the Sabres organization, and his third as the Director o Ama-

teur Scouting Operations. Schranz has a variety o responsibilities within the amateur scouting depart-

ment, including scheduling, overseeing the budget, and NHL Entry Drat preparation.

Schranz has held numerous positions throughout his tenure with the Sabres. Ater spending our years

as an intern, he spent two years in the Public Relations department and has been in the hockey depart-

ment or the past our years. He was instrumental in developing the Sabres video scouting system, and

still oversees the technical aspects o it.

Schranz currently resides in Hamburg, NY.

Mark Jakubowski begins his seventh year with the Sabres and ourth as the Assistant to the Gen-

eral Manager. His responsibilities include statistical and salary cap analysis, contract research relating

to player negotiations and arbitrations, managing player transers, team roster administration, and all

matters relating to compliance with the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement and other NHL agree-

ments.

Jakubowski also assists with the American Hockey League hockey operations o the teams minor

league aliate, the Rochester Americans.

Jakubowski graduated with an economics degree rom the University o Rochester, where he also

played baseball. He resides in Hamburg, NY.

Tim Macre enters his seventh season with the Sabres ater spending the previous nine years in the New

York Rangers organization. Macre was the Head Athletic Trainer or the Hartord Wol Pack and theBinghamton Rangers in the American Hockey League.

Among the highlights in his tenure with the Wol Pack were the 2000 Calder Cup Championship and

the 2001 AHL All-Star Classic in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

A 1994 graduate o Bowling Green State University, Macre also spent time teaching at Monroe Com-

munity College in Rochester, NY. In addition to his Athletic Training certication, Tim is also a certied

Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Macre resides in Lancaster, NY., with his wie, Katie, and their children, Andrew (4) and Ashley (2).

Bob Mowry joins the organization or his rst season as Assistant Athletic Trainer. Mowry will assist with

player treatment and training room needs on a daily basis.

Mowry received his masters degree in Exercise Science rom the University at Bualo. Mowy also

served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at St. Lawrence University rom 2008-2011. Beore joining the

sta at St. Lawrence, Mowry was a training room assistant or the Sabres during the 2007-08 season.

Robert Rip Simonick is entering his 41st season with the organization as Bualos Equipment Man-

ager. Simonick, the longest tenured equipment manager in the National Hockey League, continues to

assist with player equipment needs and requests at home and on the road.

Simonicks roots in proessional hockey begin beore the Sabres ever dropped their rst puck. Simonick

began as a stick boy with the Bualo Bisons o the American Hockey League in 1964. Ater the team

captured their 1969 Calder Cup in their last year o existence, Simonick was hired by then newly ap-

pointed Sabres General Manager Punch Imlach to join the new teams equipment sta. On Jan. 15,

2009, Simonick worked his 3,000th NHL game when the team played the Dallas Stars. Rip has also

David Williams returns or his seventh season with the Sabres as an Equipment Manager. Among many

other duties, Williams is responsible or the purchase and inventory o all team equipment and uniorms,

as well as equipment needs during each game and skate sharpening.

Williams graduated rom Plattsburgh State, where he was a Student Manager with the universitys

hockey team rom 1992-1995. Ater graduation, Williams became the Head Equipment Manager or

George Babcock is entering his 19th season with the Sabres. As the assistant equipment manager, his

duties include handling equipment issues and repairs, arranging transportation or the visiting teams,

locker room setup and preparing the day-to-day supplies needed by the team at both HSBC Arena and

the Northtown Center. Beore joining the Sabres, Babcock assisted the team at their practice acility,

Sabreland. Babcock is a graduate o Starpoint High School. He resides in Williamsville, NY.

Chuck Garlow enters his 10th season as the teams massage therapist. Prior to joining the Sabrestraining sta, Garlow spent ve seasons with the Bualo Blizzard in the same capacity. In 1995, Garlow

earned his New York State license rom NYIM and gained his national certication upon graduation.

He also has a BA rom SUNY at Fredonia. Garlow has his own practice in Lewiston, NY. He is a native

o Ransomville, NY.
