BÜYÜLÜBAĞ WINE HOUSE

Büyülübağ winery is established by Alp Törüner on Avşa Island, Marmara Sea, Turkey. The island, with a history of viticulture and wine making since 1800’s , has a unique micro climate and sandy and sandy-loam soil. Our vision is to grace the island’s indigenous grape variety ‘Adakarası’ with international awareness and to exploit the potential of the well-adapted international grape varieties in the Avşa Island’s terroir.

THE SEA INFLUENCE IS THE DOMINANT CHARACTERISTIC OF THE TERROIR. FURTHERMORE, THE CONSTANT WIND BETWEEN THE MARMARA AND AEGEAN SEAS GIVES THE FINAL TOUCH TO THE UNIQUE QUALITIES OF THE WINES PRODUCED HERE.

Being the only example of its kind in Turkey with Gravity Flow Technic, our multilevel winery situated on the slopes of the island, designed and equipped to use the gravity most effectively. Bordeaux style wine making techniques are used under the supervision of Turkish and French oenologists.

At present, Büyülübağ has 20 hectars of vineyards consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Syrah and also indigeneous variety Adakarası. The best fitted root stocks are chosen resulting from the soil and climate analysis conducted in France.

Our principle applied in production is to use the most gentle wine making techniques and to handle the grapes with utmost care. Consequently, Büyülübağ is the only producer in Turkey which makes the grapes go through two hand sorting tables. Wines are aged in Bordeaux and Burgundy style, 225 lt. French oak barrels in our underground barrel cellar.

Today Büyülübağ Winery and Vineyards produce stylish, elegant and rich wines that already won several medals at national and international wine competitons.
