Following is a suggested budget for a typical WCM student. Housing will be shared with fellow students (of the same gender, of course). Some housing and utility costs may vary slightly depending on the number of students per housing unit.

Utilities (water, electric, gas, trash, phone, internet, etc) ………...……………………………….…….Groceries (food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc) ……………….……………………..….…………..Health Insurance 1…………………………………………………………………………….…………..Car Insurance (if you have one) 2……………………………………………………..…….……………

Contributions to the Lord 3…………………………………...……………………….….………..

School Supplies 5………..………………………………………………………………………...…....

Newsletter supplies 5…………………………………………………..…….……………………..…

Don't forget to factor in your health and carinsurances, life insurance, if you have it; student loansor other debts 4.

Proof of health insurance is required by the school both as a full time student in the classroom and on the field (regardless of socializedmedicine in some countries). Most full time students can remain on their parent's. If you need a letter to g ive to the insurance companythat you are a full time student, we will gladly provide one for you. If you are unable to remain on your parent's policy, then policyamounts vary from state to state. This amount will need to be added to the estimated monthly budget. Please have your health insuranceprovider issue you your own card.

2 Car Insurance: California state law requires car insurance. IF you bring a vehicle, please make sure all registration fees and car insurancepayments are made as necessary.

3 Contributions to the Lord : we understand giving as a principle in the Old and New Testament. It is your decision how much you want tocontribute each month.

4Student Loans and other debts : "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another…" Rm 13:8. While weunderstand that some may come still owing student loans for college, we believe that each WCM students needs to be a wise steward of their finances.

5 You will download and print all syllabi, assignments, outlines and notes as needed. This amount includes paper and ink for your printer,or your roommates' printer. You will not have access to use the church's printer equipment. Costs may be higher if you use a printingservice (Kinko's, etc).

Approximately $200 to $700 more per month will be required for the field. The specific amount of additional support needed depends onthe chosen mission field. This additional amount does not need to be raised before school begins in August.

If you don't already have your passport you will be requiredto get one. http://www.usps.com/passport/

Support Information:

The handling of your support funds is an arrangement that will be important throughout your timeas a student at West Coast Missions. The greatest frustration in receiving support is keeping thelines of communication open and flexible. We will require newsletters while you are in Grass Valley, but we also encourage personal notes and phones calls to all supporters.

One thing you will need to communicate with your supporters is where they should send yourmonthly and/or one time support.

Find a congregation that would be willing to accept all your money and write one large monthlycheck.

If the sponsoring congregation is wililng to write a check for the expected amount, whether all the money has been turned in or not. Because the timing of rupporterschecks can sometimes be unpredictable, in this way the sponsoring church can offsetthat and help you have a failry stable and reliable income each month

If they sponsoring congregation will write you a check so that you will receive the checkby mail by the 1st of the month. Or if they will deposit the check in your local bank by the1st of the month.

If they are willing to communicate, on your behalf, with those who are not turning in themoney or who are frequently late. You may need to give your congregation a list of yoursupporters.

If they will send your check either at the school or to your housing address in Grass Valleymade out to you, not to the school.

In the absence of a congregation that is unwilling to do this, you may opt to have a parent or otherindividual help in the areas mentioned above.

Note that some individuals may not send checks to you directly and they may require that the fundsgo through a congregation and then the congregation would write you the check addressed to you.

Unfortunately, West Coast Missions will not be able to accept your support checks made out toWest Coast Missions and then pass your support on to you. You will need to have either individualsmake them payable and addressed to you, or have them send it to a congregation and have thecongregation send you the check.
